Jungkook has been watching Taehyung from his bedroom window for well over an hour now. He's not being creepy, he's just observing the other boy! Yeah, observing... for scientific purposes. It's actually the first time in a while he has opened his curtains on this side of the wall as it's the window opposete to Taehyungs window.
When he and Taehyung were younger they used to climb out of their windows and onto either his own or Taehyungs roof to watch the stars together. It's only a small jump onto the ledge between the two houses, but one time when it had been raining heavily Taehyung had almost slipped off before Jungkook caught his arms. The two had burst into a fit of giggles from the adrenalin and laid under the stars for hours that night talking about everything.
Jungkook smiles fondly at the memories of times before they entered the world of judgment and responsibility. Once again he glances into Taehyungs open window. The boy had already been sitting at his study desk for hours before Jungkook started 'observing' him, defiantly not just staring. He presumed that Taehyung was just doing school work, but it was the first week back. Surely he didn't have that much homework and if he did, what the hell did Jungkook miss cause he only had one math sheet to complete!
Before Jungkook could fret over the possibility of missing homework anymore he catches Taehyungs door being thrown open as Mr Kim stumbles into his room. Taehyung jumps up from his seat and bows towards his father not daring to make eye contact with the man. Jungkook removes his headphones hoping to hear what is going on as Mr Kim waves a letter in front of Taehyungs body. It's only when Mr Kim slams the paper onto Taehyungs desk, sending pens scattering across his bedroom, does Jungkook jump back in surprise. Taehyung still doesn't move a muscle. However, Mr Kim catches Jungkooks movement from behind Taehyung and slowly advances towards to window. Jungkook quickly grabs a pen and sheepishly waves at the older man before Mr Kim yanks the opposing curtains shut curtly nodding at him.
Jungkook lets out a breath he didn't realise he was holding in. The school must have told Taehyungs father that he hadn't shown up to his afternoon classes or any of the other ones he had with Jungkook for the rest of the week. Jungkook knows his own parents would have reacted the same way if he were to skip only one class, so Taehyung was in big trouble for the amount he had skipped.
Putting his headphones back on he turns towards to unanswered math sheet. Taehyungs room kept playing across his mind though. When they were younger Taehyung adored the posters that decorate his room, along with silly figurines that cluttered his shelves. Jungkook had always poked fun at the T.O.P poster pinned to the roof above his bed in particular, but Taehyung always replied saying he wanted to see the things that made him the most happy when he went to bed and started a new day; Adding he was too cheerful to have a bland room and that he needed every colour in the rainbow to match his exciting personality. Jungkook would always laugh but deep down he agreed, he just loved teasing the boy whenever he could.
What scares him is not the fact that Taehyungs room has been stripped of every colour of the rainbow. He doesn't care that figurines and pictures have been replaced by academic books.
Taehyungs room is empty and blank. Just like his new personality.
Another bang shakes Jungkook from his thoughts. Of course Taehyungs dad is going to be mad, but that one didn't just sound like a fist hitting the desk. His heart pounds against his rib cage and his mouth floods with saliva. It's like he knows something is wrong, but instead Jungkook turns his volume up and starts on the blank sheet in front of him.
Taehyung shouldn't have skipped school. He deserves a punishment. However, no matter how many times Jungkook told himself that everything was alright his gut was screaming out otherwise. Shaking his head he pushes the homework to the side after trying to figure out the first problem for what feels like an hour and walks downstairs.
