Chapter One

The warm wind blew against my warm frigid cheeks, as I could hear the ambulance in the distance. The taxis drove by every two minutes, as my college graduation hat blew as I held it tightly, not letting go. It was the end of May now. I decided to move to Florida with my best friend Ali. Ali and I just graduated high school one week ago, and we moved to Florida to change our lives. Maybe get a better job. Or just for the fun of it.

"You did remember to buy that apartment we were looking for, right?" Ali questioned as I shook my head up and down. "Maybe we should go there. Is it already furnished"She questioned again as I glared at her palish face.

"Yes." I said, waiting for the bus to arrive. The bus pulled up 5 minutes later, as we stepped inside on our way to our new apartment. "So what do you think I should do for a job? I'm still trying to decide if I should go to college" I add, taking a sip of my water from my large backpack.

"I think you should. But not right now. I mean, we just bought this apartment. Maybe in the meantime, for a year or so, get a temporary job. Just an easy one for now, you know?"

"Yeah I understand what you mean" I say, shoving my water back in my bag.

Hours later, Ali and I arrive at our large apartment building, as everyone crowds inside. Business men, random men and women, also children. I look at Ali raising an eyebrow as the desk clark smiles at us. "It will probably be a hour long wait. Just sit there for now girls" she says, as Ali puts her thumb up, kind of in a moody way as if she was annoyed.

"Now what? Just sit here for one hour?" Ali shrugs, as the building gets busier and busier. I look around, as two young guys walk our way.

"You mind if we sit here? Sorry, there's nowhere else to sit" One boy says, as the other looks at me.

"Oh sure" I reply, digging my phone out of my pocket, as I got 12 text messages in 10 minutes. "Wow people, cant you wait" I mummer to myself as the boy sitting near me glares at my phone, then up at me.

"You okay over there" He laughs, looking at his friend and back at me. "You look a little annoyed"

"No. Well Maybe. Just people need to text me when they know I just moved here" I smile, looking into the boys eyes.

"Where are you from? I'm Austin, by the way" He smiles. holding his hand out as I slowly shake it.

"I'm from New York. I'm Taylor, and this is Ali" I say, jabbing her on the shoulder as she looks my way.

"Nice to meet you both. Well, we actually have to go now. I have an appointment with someone in the building, so,  see you around?" Austin smiles, looking down at the floor, over at his friend, Alex, at Ali, then back at me.

"Oh yeah, um, sure. here's my number. Just in case you want to hangout. Remember, we don't have any friends here" I laugh, as he smiles, walking out the large door as the building cleared up a bit.  It hasn't been one hour yet, maybe like twenty minutes, and the place already cleared up. We walked to the desk, as the lady handed us the apartments key. "Do you think they're gonna text me? I really want to get to know them"

"I think so, I don't know. Whats his name? Wasn't it Austin? I think so, but it looked like he had a thing for you, Tay" Ali explained as I shook my head walking into the large elevator.

"That's crazy, Ali. We just met." I say, stepping in front of the door leading inside our apartment. Ali grabs the key, unlocking the red door, as she turns the knob, and the door quickly opens. I dropped my heavy bag on the floor, as the room was filled with large lights, and windows. The room was painted a light red, and the glass seemed to have just got done being polished. You could see a bunch of buildings out the clear windows, and even Madison Square Garden in the distance.

"Oh my god" Ali and I both said, as we turned back to our large queen beds, covered in pink fur "Tay, this must've costed a fortune"

"It kinda did," I giggle, sitting down on my large queen bed, "It was all my allowance I've earned for about one year. It was really expensive" I add, watching Ali place her left hand on the large window sill. "My mom even pitched in, but only like 5 hundred dollars" I continue, laying back on the soft bed filled with pink fur. My phone laid by my side, vibrating, over and over again till I finally answered it, not recognizing the number.

"Hello? Who's this?" I ask, standing up from the bed. "Oh hey Austin." I smile, looking at Ali, shaking my head up and down. "You wanna come over, tomorrow? That would work. Don't think we have any plans." I say, putting the phone on speaker, setting it down on the smaller white table.

"Alright, I'll be over at like one tomorrow. Sound good?"

"Yeah, sounds good to me. See you then." I say, hanging up the phone, throwing it on the black and blue polka dotted bean chair.

Its now 11 o'clock pm. Ali and I fall onto our large beds, turning the lights off, including our lava lamps,. I pull the covers over my legs and arms, tucking myself in comfortably. "Today was a good day," I say, plugging my phone into the charger and placing it on the nearest desk. " At least we already made two friends, and there guys. That usually never happened to us in New York because everyone thought we were weird, you know."

"Yeah, well goodnight Tay."  Ali said, rolling the other way, placing her phone on the night stand.

"Yeah, night" I reply, drifting off to sleep later on during the night.
