Ultrasound

Megan's POV:

I'm currently 5 months pregnant with our third child. Today, we are going to find out the gender of our baby. We already have a boy and a girl so it doesn't matter what gender our third child will be. We dropped the kids off to school and make our way to the hospital. While we are driving to the hospital, I start to feel uneasy for no reason.

Takao's POV:

We've just arrived at the hospital and at the corner of my eye, I see Megan shivering. Is Megan cold? Probably not... it is quite warm outside and it's June. But what could it be? I start to feel uneasy myself knowing that there is something wrong with my wife. I just went ahead and asked her. "Are you cold?"

"No...um.... I know it sounds really stupid but... I'm scared." Her voice suddenly turns into a whimpering whisper. I start to become confused and I automatically shift into my big brother mode.

"Scared? About what?!?" Panic suddenly starts to take over my voice and I recompose myself so I don't make her have an anxiety attack. I rank deeply into my brain to figure out my wife's deepest fears. A glistening tear rolls down her soft cheek.

"Babe, everything will be okay. I mean... if there was something wrong, you would have known straight away. What I'm saying is that there is absolutely nothing to worry about." I encourage her and gave her a confident smile to reassure her.

Megan's POV:

After Takao gave me a pep talk, I suddenly feel all of my worries vanish in an instant. I smiled back at Takao and gently grabbed his hand. Once I feel a familiar warm sensation, I gave his hand a squeeze and he returned the squeeze. "Megan Maruyama." I turn my head and my eyes met a doctor's eyes. "Hello, Mrs Maruyama, my name is Dr Foster. If you may follow me please." He gives me a gentle smile. We follow him to the ultrasound room to signal the start of the appointment. "Can you lie on the examination table and lift up your shirt enough so your stomach can be seen?" Doctor Foster instructed when we arrived at the office. Takao sits next to me and gently grabs me hand. Dr Foster applies ECG gel, a special gel used for ultrasounds, onto my stomach in a circular motion. He places the transducer probe, an ultrasound device, onto my stomach and moves it across he swollen surface in one swift movement. Everyone keeps their attention at the ultrasonography screen. Dr Foster raises his eyebrows.

"Um... Doctor, is everything okay?" Takao asks with a hint of concern in his voice. 

"I can tell you the sex of the baby if you would like to know?" I look at Takao and our eyes meet each other.

"Do you want to know?" We both say at the same time. Once both of us have realised this, we smile at each other.

"Yes!" We both say at the same tine yet again. We smile at each other once again and turn to the doctor. 

"We would like to know please." Takao says in his calm and composed voice. 

"Certainly..... congratulations Mr and Mrs Maruyama, you'll be having a girl!"
