Elain was standing in front of the garden, admiring her work. She had planted 12 tulips and tiger lilies in Gavlin’s yard. She peered over at the sidewalk, where a figure was hidden by shadows. Normally, people would be oblivious to it, but she learned of his shadows and could tell.
“Hello, Azriel. Come to bring me my smoothie?” Elain teased through the silence.
Azriel, startled, came out of the shadows.
“Yes, I even put an umbrella with little flowers on it in the smoothie.” He smiled awkwardly.
He was always doing something nice for her. Always little things that made her day all the better.
Elain looked softly at his deep brown eyes and his sharp cheekbones framed by his dark, curly locks. He was such a handsome male.
“Thank you very much, I can’t wait to drink it,” she sat down, patting the sidewalk, “Come sit, I’d love to have a chat.”
Az peered down at her, glad she wanted to talk, but Rhysand needed him and he had to leave.
“I’d love to.” He turned to look at her hazel eyes adorned with such thick and luscious eyelashes. He sat down next to Elain, and as he did she moved closer, resting her head on his shoulder and closing her eyes.
“I am so tired. These flowers are difficult and with Nesta fighting off Lucien, I can’t take much more,” she looked up into his eyes, glancing at his lips for a brief moment. “Can we do something tonight, for a distraction?”
Azriel, while his face blank, was shouting in happiness in his mind.
“That sounds nice,” he paused, thinking. “There is a new show in, it’s a romance. It’s about two lovers who meet in sticky situations. The main character, Malide, she’s in love with a quite but sarcastic boy named, Ansen. Would you like to see it?”
Elain looked up at Azriel in astonishment with how much he just spoke. She nodded and pecked him on the cheek, just barely at the corner of his mouth. As he leans in further, Elain pauses.
“I..” she looks down at his lips, leaning in. “Mmph.”
Their lips lock, and Azriel finds his hands on her waist, with hers in his hair and brushing on his neck. When they part, Elain gets up, brushes off and turns, speaking quietly.
“I’d love to.”

Later that evening, Elain sat at her vanity. She peers down at her dress, a light pink that’s almost white with little blue flowers sticking out. It had lace going up from the sweetheart neckline to her neck. Her makeup was light, just some rouge and a red-ish lip tint with a little brown kohl on her eyes. Her hair was braided around her head like a crown, with a blue flower at the back. A knock sounded, and startled she topples her chair.
“Ah!”
The door slams open and Azriel goes to help her up.
“Are you alright?”
She peers into his eyes. She couldn’t stop thinking about the unexpected kiss. That never happened before, and yet it seemed as if it happened millions of times before.
“Yeah, just a little startled.” She throws on a shawl and her flats and loops her arm through his, leaning her head on his arm.
“Elain?” Azriel speaks up.
“Hm?” Her head lifted up, looking into his eyes.
His eyes search hers for hints, any acknowledgement to the act that happened just hours before. He needed her taste, her feel. He wanted her so badly, he couldn't control himself for much longer.
