AMERICA'S POV

I looked down at the plastic stick in my hand, shocked, worried, and excited all at the same time. I was carrying the heir to Illea. I was so nervous to tell Maxon. We had only been married for a month. I had to figure out the right way to tell him. Then there was my family, and Aspen and Lucy, Mary, and I wished I could tell Anne, but she had gone missing. I often thought of her, and wished I could tell her so many things. I also wished Amberly and my father had been here. Amberly could've given me advice, and my father to walk me down the aisle, as well as meet his grandson or granddaughter. I remember what I had been thinking about. How to tell Maxon? I wished I could call Celeste. She would've had an opinion, but she was yet another causality of the attack by the Southern rebels. I instead, relied on another dramatic friend, Marlee. Though these days, she went by Mallory. I called out Mary's name, and she went to get "Mallory" for me. When she finally arrived, I opened the bathroom door slightly and told her to come in.

"Mallory, I need advice."

"What do you need advice on Queen America," she said with a wink.

"I need to know how to tell Maxon something... serious. I can't tell you what yet, Maxon needs to be the first to know, but what should I say?"

"Well, I would just be honest with him. Tell him the facts. He loves you, and I'm sure he won't be angry. Unless, of course you're breaking up the marriage," She questioned.

"No, No! Nothing like that."

"Good. Well, what are you waiting for?"

"Nothing. I'll tell him now."

I walked down the stairs, Hiding the stick in the ruffles of my dress, when Aspen cut me off.

"Mer, how're you doing?"

"I'm okay, going to talk to Maxon..."

"What about?"

"I'll tell you... Later."

"Secretive, are we?"

"I promise, I'll tell you. But he needs to know first. I haven't even told Marlee."

"Okay then. I won't push."

I continued to his study, the door was closed, so I took a breath. Before I even had a chance to knock, Maxon called out for me to come in.

"I still don't know how you do that."

"Well, you don't exactly breathe softly, but this is a pleasant surprise."

"Are you busy? We can talk later, if you want," I said.

Seeming to sense my nervous demeanor, Maxon stood up and came over to stand in front of me. "What's wrong, Princess?"

"I'm nervous to tell you some news. I think it's good news, but I don't know what you'll think."

"Tell me Darling."

I pulled the stick up, and handed it to him.

He was confused for a moment, but realization set in. Emotions played across his face like a movie. First excitement, then fear, then shock and finally he settled on excitement.

"Oh my god. You're pregnant?"

Before I could answer, he picked me up and spun me around. That was the first day of the rest of my life.
