Finn
I was excited beyond hell. I've only lived in America for a few weeks and I'm already in school here and I made a friend already. He was coming over today, his dad was going to stop in just to meet my dad. He was cool and really nice about my shitty English.
Like, in my head, it's fine. But when it comes out of my mouth?
No. German is my first language being that's like where I was raised and lived until a few weeks ago when my dad, sister, and I moved to New York. Which is where Dad was from originally. Grandma was born in Germany, though. So dad moved there and then I was born and when I was little he adopted Luana.
And now we're back.
Carlos showed up with his dad and I said hi to Mr. di Angelo and told him my dad would be down any second.
"That's alright," he insisted. "It's nice to meet you, Finn."
Having a feeling that my dad didn't notice people here being upstairs, I yelled up the stairs.
"Vati!" I yelled, hoping he'd hear me. "Wir haben Besucher! Komm herunter!"
Dad! We have visitors! Come dowstairs!
"Ich komme, entspann dich." He told me as he came downstairs.
I'm coming, relax.
Dad can flip between German and English a lot easier than I can. I wish I was as fluent enough in English for that.
"Sorry, hi," Dad said after a moment, "I didn't hear you guys. I'm Finn's dad."
"I figured," Mr. di Angelo told my dad, shaking his hand. "I'm Carlos' father, Nico. What's your name? I didn't catch it."
I really didn't know if Dad's expression was good or bad, but he took him into the kitchen as we were excused.
Nico
Oh boy me I didn't want to embarrass my son with my gay ass, but Finn's dad was looking fine.
Sadly, he's probably married.
If you couldn't figure it out, Carlos is adopted. His mom died in childbirth, his father was a deadbeat. He wasn't a day old when I adopted him. And he's 15 now. Almost 16. He turns 16 in a few months.
It's insane.
I'm old.
This guy looked like he had a lot going through his head, though. Which didn't make sense, but okay. It's not like we exactly knew each other.
I mean, sure, he kind of looked like Percy. But I've met Percy's doppelganger before. We haven't heard from Percy in years. He went to college in Europe. It was cheaper. Annabeth and him broke up because of it, knew they couldn't make it work.
He would never come back.
"I'm sorry," he apologized to me, and it wasn't hard to notice the German accent. Carlos did say Finn was German. "Nico? Nico di Angelo?"
"Yeah," I confirmed for him, nodding my head. "That would be me. Is there a problem? Have we met?"
He looked at me like I was insane for a minute. Which, after he said what he did, I don't blame him.
"Have we met?" He repeated. "Nico, we went to Camp together."
"Wh..."
I hadn't seen anyone from camp in years. Even Hazel. She found out I was gay not long after her and Frank got married. She didn't take kindly to it. Everyone else I just lost contact with.
