Riley Evans is a hot mess. When he takes a job at local iconic restaurant in order to chase after his pizza-loving ex boyfriend Vincent, it wasn't incredibly surprising that it all went terribly wrong. Who is he without Vincent, though? A lonely, jobless, idiot is what.
Riley's mom sees his dilemma and begs himto go stay in florida with his brother Ian, a got-it-all-together professional, and his wife Carmen, a dynamic, do-too-much housewife. Riley hates the idea of leaving-- it would take away any chance of being near Vince -- but he admires his brother, and eventually agrees. It isn’t until he gets to Orlando that he realizes what his mom and brother had in store for him: building houses for Panacaea Disaster Relief, a charity group that rebuilds homes for victims of storms in the gulf area. Soft-handed, pouty Riley is distressed and devastated on the building site. He wasn't made for this work, and he can't keep his heartbreak far from his thoughts. He doens' t rightly know what to do when the roguishly handsome Nicolas Reynard, a charismatic leader of the Panacaea staff, approaches him.
Riley and Nic are pulled together by a gravity they can’t explain. Things are magical. Then things get complicated.
Nicolas is a traveller. As always, he will move soon, on to the next unfamiliar place. This makes dependable midwesterner Riley uncomfortable. Above and beyond that, Nicolas has a dark secret. When he finally shares it, Riley needs to decide if he can really stay with a man who has crimes, secrets, and hidden identities behind him.
