"Hello."

There it is, the word that started the spiral of emotion that spins endlessly inside me. There is a smile on their face, an extended hand. I struggle to meet their gaze. A set of balls on chains seem to tie me down. I can feel my face turning red like the blood that runs down the wounds on my skin. My mouth trembles and words fall out like an egg falling to the floor and breaking apart.

"H-Hey."

I raise my hand to meet theirs. They hold me tight and show no sign of letting go. The whirlwind inside me turns into a tornado as my eyes meet theirs. I liked them. Like, them. I'm afraid they simply don't feel the same way. My heart is too hard to convince otherwise, this handshake between us makes it harder for me. I don't want them to let go. But they do, and as soon as they've come. They left.
