22.03.18 <-- this is the date I started writing.
Spoilers, obviously.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
As I write this I'm waiting for my parent's movie to finish as their's was half an hour longer and they won't let me have my own car--heck, I don't even have my licence yet.
I just saw Disney's A Wrinkle In Time and can I just say how amazing it was. I usually try to read the boon first always. Unfortunately, it wasn't in our library. Probably because it was on the Battle of the Books list so a everyone took all the copies. Plus it's on the Junior list and in an Intermediate so until BotB is over I can't take it out. Anyways, this time I went in knowing practically nothing.
It starts when Meg Murry (Storm Reid) is a child and her dad (Chris Pine) is showing all of his cool tech gear and even back then she has an amazingly smart brain. Shortly after we see her ask if she will love Charles Wallace Murry (Deric McCabe) like a real sister and brother love each other; as, clearly (only mostly sort of), he's adopted. Right after that Meg is now older and seems to have trouble sleeping, after all it is the four year anniversary of her dad literally disappeared. She walks downstairs and sees Charles Wallace reading a book and.... making.. milk? Right. Because a 6 (that's my guess, I'll look it up) year old is allowed to use the stove. Also I noticed a bottle of Sriracha Hot Sauce on the counter. He tells her that he couldn't sleep and didn't go to her room because he knew she'd come downstairs....
Anyways.
--time skip•segue music, gossiping teachers and delinquent Meg who hits Veronica Kiley (Rowan Blanchard) in the face with a basketball for calling Charles Wallace crazy--
This is about the part where everything goes downhill. Both Meg and Charles Wallace get in trouble that day, Charles Wallace starts letting people he meets/stranger into the house like Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), for some reason Calvin O'Keefe (Levi Miller) gets drawn to where Meg and Charles Wallace are walking, and then they meet Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), who does nothing but quote people. Then they meet Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey) and they "tesser" (I think) and now..... That's all I'm going to mention. Also this is a review. Not a play by play. If you wanted a play by play, here's a tip: spend the money to see the movie.
I'll stop being salty now. If you do want a play by play tell me and I'll think of it. It would include hilarious and probably mean jokes and comments. (This is where I started inter 23rd)
First, let me tell you that Levi Millar is so cute and he was adorable as Calvin O'Keefe. (But don't think about Keith's nickname--referencing things..... Heh heh) Also if you are a shipping fangirl/boy then you will get so mad at the end when it is THE perfect moment to kiss and Calvin and Meg only hug. But then again he was going to do some terrifying things (like talking to his dad who he found out is controlled by the it ((not Pennywise)) ) so maybe they'd kiss in a sequel or after he talked to his dad. Idk.
Second, the actual review.
1) the plot
I really liked how in this story there were all these different events that happened that kept the story going. The way the story flowed made sense and moved me and for some reason I've been crying more at the beginning of the movie more often than at the end. It's a very interesting story that definitely makes you think bout your own world.2) the characters, from book to movie
First I want to say that the Mrs don't look like what I pictured them in the book or what I saw in the graphic novel. What I pictured was some old people with ugly faces (sorry). Mrs. Which kinda looked like an actual witch in the book was actually a giant person. Calvin looks cuter than he did in the book and Meg is black.... Not exactly what I was expecting but then again I only read the graphic novel so I didn't get all the details so maybe she is supposed to be black. Idk.3) final thoughts
Honestly I think this movie was really well done. Like I said before, I like the flow of the story, the characters, and let me just tell you how Awesome with a Capitol 'a' the sets and special effects looked. All in all go see the movie for yourself. You will be blown away.Last things:
Go watch it
To the head of Netflix: please get this movie addedOk, that's all from me for now. Stay safe
