Violet yawned as she got up from her soft bed, rubbing her eyes while habitually reaching for her slippers with her toes. She blinked twice before getting up to go and check what was for breakfast.
"Papa!" Violet called in her rich Sinnoh accent. "What are you making for breakfast, if I may ask?" She continued before her father could reply.
"Oran-berry Pancakes, fresh from the Farmer's Market!" Her father called back, a smile bringing small wrinkles around his tired eyes. He was wearing a pink apron that was around five sizes too small, but he pulled it off somehow. Violet smiled and rushed downstairs, eager to take the first pancake of the griddle.
"So, how have you adapted to life in Johto? More specifically, Ecruteak." Violet asked, curious about what her father thought of their new home. It was so peculiar, how time flew by. It was only a week ago that they were sprawled out in the fields of Floaroma town.
"I'm enjoying the atmosphere, for sure, but I'll have to get used to the fact that it's a rather populous area." Papa replied, sitting down with a heap of pancakes on a plate. "Here, have another. After all, you'll need energy if you want to start to exploring. Professor Elm didn't give you that Pokemon so can just train it in the backyard all its life."
"E-Exploring?! But we've barely started to unpack! I want to at least finish the boxes around the stairs, I can barely get through...." She trailed off, quickly realizing her father would see right through her pointless excuses. She sighed, hanging her head in defeat. She had almost forgot about the pancakes in front of her, nearly face-planting into them. "Just don't expect me to go making friends with every person I meet! You know I'm not good at making - or keeping - friends. I'm only doing this for Quilava!" Violet huffed, turning her head as the fiery Pokemon perked up in interest after hearing its name.
Her father had long finished his pancake and was staring at the old, oak wood table thoughtfully. "You could do with meeting the neighbors, at least. You're 18 now, it's about time you made some friends. I let you slide for too long, only because you were studying to get your degree. You said you wanted to finish school so you could go on a journey, right? Well, you're going to need someone to travel with you if that's going to be possible, or I'm afraid I won't allow it." Quilava poked Violet with its paw, interested in her leftover pancake.
"Sure." Violet cooed as she placed her plate on the floor.
"I said I would go, okay? If you really want it, I'll go visit the neighbors, and do some shopping. After training, of course." Violet promised, wondering to herself where she could train. She got up and took her Papa's plate to the sink before rushing upstairs to change. A short, purple frilled skirt with a heavier pink coat she often wore to classes were among the very few pieces of clothing she had unpacked. They matched enough, so she went with that before grabbing her backpack and heading out the door.
"I'm bringing my phone, Papa, just call or text me if you need something!" She said as she waved him goodbye.
Now, where to first?
