Andrew was going to kill him. He had promised that he would be home in plenty of time for the benefit tonight. But the school board meeting had droned on and of course the principle of his school had insisted that this was the meeting that not only did all teachers need to attend but also, remain for the entirety as a show of support. He knew it was important. They were deciding if the arts needed more funding and as the choir teacher and director, it was essential that he be there, but now he only had fifteen minutes to get home, get showered, dressed and out the door. Yup, he was a dead man.
He pulled up to his house and was down to ten minutes, but he breathed a sigh of relief when he didn't see Andrew's car in the driveway. It looked like he wasn't the only one running late...unless Andrew had been so pissed at him he'd left early.
GULP
He dared a glance at his phone but didn't see any angry messages from his husband. He breathed a sigh of relief and ran into his house. Wyatt, their giant Great Dane, was waiting anxiously by the front door. He looked behind Scott, looking for his favorite person in the world. Andrew was definitely running late. Wyatt was a loyal sentry, only leaving his place at the front door when Andrew walked through it.
Scott knew that his husband would be frantic once he did get home, so he ran to the kitchen and scooped up some food for Wyatt before he jumped into the shower. He could see Wyatt lift his head at the sound of his food hitting the metal bowl and he made two steps toward the kitchen before he plopped himself back in his place.
Scott rolled his eyes, "Come on Wyatt, eat!"
He didn't move a muscle; stubborn beast.
"Fine." Scott muttered and started to jog up the stairs but stopped when he heard the jingle of keys.
"We've got two minutes!" Andrew said as a way of greeting while he petted Wyatt who was trying to weave his way between Andrews legs, forgetting he was no longer a puppy and was taller than Andrew when he stood on his hind legs.
Andrew detangled himself and started stripping off his clothes as he headed for the stairs. Scott took a second to admire the beautiful canvas of toned skin and defined abs. He hoped they didn't have to stay at this thing for long tonight.
"Babe, Wyatt." He reminded Andrew before he headed for the bedroom.
"Wyatt, eat!"
Wyatt lumbered over to his food bowl without hesitation.
"Why does he listen to you, but not me?" Scott asked petulantly.
This was a conversation they'd had several times, but Scott never got a satisfactory answer.
"Because he knows who's boss in this house." Andrew replied with a devilish smirk and a smack to Scott's ass.
They were definitely leaving early tonight.
"I'll show you who's boss when we get home." He growled as he admired his husband's ass as he bent into the shower turning on the water.
Andrew winked at him before he disappeared into the steamy shower.
Half an hour later...
Scott had never seen Andrew so nervous before. They had miraculously made it to the benefit only ten minutes late...not that anyone noticed. People were too busy mingling while enjoying the free alcohol and fancy little hors d'oeurvs being passed around. Andrew had immediately sequestered them away into a quiet corner and pulled out his flash cards. He had been working on this speech for months and Scott knew that it was already perfect.
