Draco P.O.V.
As I sit on the train, I hear murmurs. Did you hear? Harry Potter is going to Hogwarts this year. I wonder if we'll meet him. I hear this all and sneer at a boy my age who is grinning at the thought of being friends with the "famous" Harry Potter. "Shut up would you? Harry Potter is not going to want to talk to you, half-blood." I spit out. Potter is going to be a Gryffindork. I know it. The boy shrinks back and I smirk. Hufflepuff. No doubt about it. "Come on, Draco. Don't waste your breath on him." Goyle tells me, looking up from his box of Bertie Botts Every Flavored Beans. He makes a face and I chuckle. "What flavor?" I ask sitting down across from him. "Vomit." he groans, and I full on laugh at his expression. A female head pokes through the compartment door and asks, "Have you seen a toad?" We shake our heads and she sighs in annoyance. "Thanks anyways." she grumbles, stalking off. "Mudblood." I hiss after she's out of hearing range. Crabbe and Goyle howl in laughter and I smirk. "Puppets." I think, sneering in disgust. The Hogwarts Express shrieks to a stop and I get off with the rest of the students, young and old. I see you the mudblood get off the train with the youngest male Weasel and another boy with messy black hair and piercing green eyes. "Potter." I mumble, my heart squeezing. I shake my head to clear it and see the mudblood looking at Potter in confusion. " Whatever." I growl, looking up at the big hairy guy that's going to take us to the school itself. Potter runs up to him and grins, his glasses slightly askew. The giant smiles back warmly and looks around, clearing his throat. "My name is Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. If you'll follow me." he rumbles. With that, he lumbers off, leaving us staring at his large back in confusion. We trail after him and I steal a glance at Potter. He's looking around in amazement and I smile at his expression. I blink and wipe the smile off my face with a scowl. "Get your head out of your arse, Malfoy." I tell myself.

As we enter the school, a severe looking woman addresses us. "Welcome to Hogwarts. Shortly, you'll pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Now while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points. Any rule-breaking and you will lose points. At the end if the year, the house with the most points wins the House Cup." She is interrupted by a boy crying out, "Trevor!" He bends to scoop up his toad and looks up at the woman with fear in his eyes. "Sorry." he mumbles, backing away. The woman continues. "The Sorting Ceremony will begin momentarily." With that, she turns on her heel and stalks through the doors to the Great Hall. "So it's true then, what they were saying on the train. The famous Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts." I say into the silence. People turn to face me as I walk toward Potter. "My name is Draco. Draco Malfoy." I say sticking out my hand. He looks at my hand then at me. "Harry. Harry Potter." he replies, grasping my hand. I feel a jolt as his hand touches mine, but quickly shake it off. The doors open and the woman walks through again. She smiles and says, "We're ready for you now. Follow me." We flood through the doors and I see Potter looking up at the ceiling in amazement. "It's not really the ceiling. It's just bewitched to look like the night sky. I read about it in Hogwarts: A History." the mudblood comments, smiling faintly. We step up to a slightly raised platform and the woman addresses us again. "Now when I call your name, you are to step forward and get sorted into your house." she tells us. I hear excited whispers all around me, but all I can focus on is the ratty old hat in the woman's hand. The Sorting Hat. I think back to what my father said to me before I got on the train. "Remember, Draco. You are a Malfoy. Therefore, you must be a Slytherin. Don't disappoint me." I shiver at the implied, or else, in his statement. I hear Harry's name get called and the hat gets placed on his head. The hat ponders for a moment then shouts, "Gryffindor!" Harry looks relieved and he runs to join his friends and his excited house. My name is called and I take a wary step forward. The hat touches my head and before I can think it shouts,"Gryffindor!" I gasp, stunned and walk tover to my new house in a daze. "Welcome to Gryffindor." a fourth year student says to me, Harry and his friends. I nod and shiver when I think of my father's reaction when he hears that I was placed in Gryffindor and not Slytherin. "You okay, Draco?" Harry asks, noticing my I'll expression. I nod and start to eat.*A/N* I realize that Draco was technically sorted before Harry, but work with me. It is a fanfiction after all. I will publish more parts as I go so don't worry.😂
