In the weeks to come after hearing of my fathers horrible fate, I locked myself in my room away from the world. Grace tried everything she could to get me out of my depressing state but none of it would work for her, I know it was killing her to see me like this but I couldn't stop. I mean how are you supposed to hear the man who raised you has lapsed into insanity and then pretend everything is ok afterwards, answer to that is you can't.
It has officially been an entire month and a half since Dr lamb gave me the news, and I am wasting away I no longer eat and I rarely sleep. I have been letting Grace into my room but I still refuse to go out, it's not like the social scene in rapture is that great anyway. My days now mostly consist of reading in my bedroom, I no longer make my trips to the little ledge of window I used to love. I can hear Grace as she walks towards my door silent as ever as to not scare me, to bad for her I am terrified of this life in itself.
"Ok Jadis that is enough of that." Grace says as she rips the blanket off of me, surprising me with her sudden boldness.
"Alright girl I know that it hurts but life is continuing all around you."Grace says kindly sitting on my bed with me.
"What kind of life can I really have down here?" I ask, I don't mean to sound ungrateful but it comes out that way.
"You can still have a life down here, not everyone are bad people." Grace says taking on a defensive tone, I know my earlier statement offended her.
"If you say so."I say in agreement not wanting to make her anymore upset with me.
"Get changed I have someone you should meet." Grace says returning to her normal happy state, I nod my head with a fake smile as she leaves. Once grac closes my door I change into a white long sleeved top with a blue below the knee fitted skirt, I let my hair fall down my back in waves and walk from the room. I can hear Grace locked in a conversation with someone which is odd duze to our never having company.When I step into the room i am surprised to be met with a man's back.
"Jadis,this is who I wanted you to meet." Grace says acknowledging me when I enter the room, the guy turns and I am surprised to see Daniel.
"This is Daniel langford ,he worked along Side your father."Grace says with a smile. Daniel was my fathers lab assistant on most of his work over the last few years, we met last year when I brought my father a sandwich.
"Jade, nice to see you again." Daniel says politely holding out his hand to shake, I take it lightly in my own and shake it. Daniel is one of the few people here in rapture that still has his sanity in tact,he Is about a year older then me and looks normal which is something good. He was my first crush years ago when my father and I met with Dr langford and her son Daniel, I am so very surprised to see Daniel here with Grace though.
"I wanted you to see your father before we lock down the lab." Daniel says and I find myself extremely thankful to the Langford boy. I nod my head and smile to Daniel extremely thankful for the opportunity to see my dad.
"Thank you Daniel."I say giving him a hug.
"We should get going." Daniel says pulling away from my embrace before offering me a hand. I say a quick goodbye to grace as Daniel and I head to my fathers lab which will most likely be my last.
