We finally get to the train station and the Chiyo points to the time board. "Looks like we missed the train dear" she signs miserably. "It's okay we can't wait for the next one... Wait what's that on the tracks?" I say walking to the side of the platform looking down onto the tracks.
"I don't know dear how strange" Chiyo says walking up next to me. "Hmm it seems to be ice maybe someone rode on this?" I say "but how did ice get here it's summer!" I say confusing.
"Hmm I'm not sure there is always something odd going on around here it doesn't surprise me" Chiyo signs as she pats my shoulder. "I guess we could ride the ice if the last person did this" Chiyo says.
"We don't have anything to ride on do we just slide down the tracks?" I say confused at the idea. "Well yeah but i have a ironing board we can use to slide down on" Chiyo says throwing a ironing board on the track.
"How did you get that?" I ask surprised, "from the store on the other side on the road" Chiyo says jumping on the ironing board, "when did you go to the store?" I say "just as you weren't looking now jump on!" Chiyo shouts waving her handbag in the air.
"Okay.." I say jumping on, Chiyo is one weird old lady.
As we slide down we see wonderful scenery of forests at the side of the tracks and fields of golden wheat going on for meters on end. This reminds me of something but I just can't remember it hurts to try.
Chiyo smiles as she looks around the surroundings, "it's amazing how little things like this make old people happy it's all we want to see in this world it's so relaxing" Chiyo says slowly with a content smile on her face.
"Yeah I enjoy it sometimes to" I say smiling with her. The ironing board starts to shake dangerously as the ice path weakens the farther we go, I hold on to Chiyo so she doesn't fall off.
"I can see the station we're almost there my dear" Chiyo says pointing up the track.
"Yeah" I say smiling I can't wait to start my job but I don't want to leave Chiyo when I go back to the inn... Maybe she will let me stay with her at her shop she is bound to have a house near there.
"Umm Chiyo" I ask shyly "can I live with you at your store?"
"Of course you can why would I say no? You're such a bonnie girl" Chiyo says smiling a toothy grin.
Tears run down my eyes "thank you Chiyo!" I say and give her a big warm hug. "It's my pleasure dear it will be lovely to have some company with me after my husband died" Chiyo says hugging me back.
I sniff and rub the tears from my eyes and release the hug.
