"Mother fuck." Elliot mumbled as he left the classroom. He saw that he got a few disapproving glares from most of the teacher standing in the halls. Elliot only continued to his next hour. Only two hours left then he could go hom- oh wait, shit. Elliot put his ear buds in, blast music to block out everyone else. 'Everyone here is too basic, too boring. Same faces every day.' Elliot thought, looking at the girls gossiping by the lockers, the freshman rushing to their class, and then glaring at the people in front of him.
"Move it or lose it people. There's other people trying to get to class." Elliot yelled, starting to shove past them.
He heard a few people yelling him, but just barely; Elliot only rolled his eyes.

It's empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears and all the faults you've left behind
The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same I know the shame in your defeat

Elliot hummed along. People always thought he was into rock or heavy metal. Nope, he preferred songs like this: deep and with a good rhythm.

I will hold on hope and I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
'Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth, which will refresh my broken mind

Why did he like this song? To most it didn't make sense, but to him, it was the most perfect sense.

So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults and despite my growing fears
But I will hold on hope and I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

N

ow instead of humming, he was saying the words very very quietly.

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down

Elliot walked up the states to his class. Having long legs made it easy to skip a step, letting him walk past everyone.

You can understand dependence when you know the maker's heart
So make your siren's call and sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say
'Cause I need freedom now and I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be

Elliot got a few looks of amazement as he passed by. He never realized he singing a bit louder, not too much, but enough to be heard clearly.

And I will hold on hope and I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

Elliot walked into his class the second befor the bell rang. Taking out his ear buds, he walked over to his seat and waited for class to begin. As he was waiting he felt like there was something new in the class. But what? Cleaned whit board? No, that's always really clean. Something new is hung on the wall....nope. Elliot continued to look around the class.

"Are you looking for something" A voice called next to him. He slowly turned around to see who was talking to him.
'Wow' Elliot thought. It was a girl, not just any girl, but a pretty- no beautiful, girl. Wait, no, Elliot....don't go falling for her, don't want a repeat of the last time.

"N-no" Elliot stumbled over his words. 'Damn it, you already fucked up.' He cursed mentally.

"Okie. Anyway, my names Addison. What's yours?" Her voice sounded sweet, and she sounded like she was genuinely interested in talking to him.

"Elliot." He put his hand out, waiting for her to shake it.

"Nice to meet you." She grasped his hand firmly but gently at the same time. Her hands are so soft and small.

"Afternoon students!" the teacher sang out. Addison and Elliot let go of each other's hands and began class with everyone else.
