The door swung open, and once his eyes landed on her face, Demi instantly recognized the look in his eyes. Pity. Nothing but pity, because he was staring at her trembling, split lip and her blood shot eye that was surrounded by a ring of purple and the yellowing bruise on the side of her temple where he had punched her after she had turned away from him, which had made him mad. She had kept her hair down in an attempt to hide how horrible she looked, but it didn't work. You could still see. Her left eye was nearly glued shut because he had hit her that hard. That hard. All over a text message that she couldn't control.

"Demi," he breathed out, carefully grabbing her wrist - because he didn't know where else she was hurt - and tugging her inside as gently and quickly as he could.

"I can't do this anymore." It hurt to even speak. The Uber driver that had brought her here had kept asking if she was okay and if she wanted to go to the hospital because it took her two whole minutes to get into his car.

Blood spattered from her lips as she spoke because one of her teeth had been knocked out and her mouth was filled with blood. She had tried to rinse it out after he left but the blood just kept flowing. It wouldn't stop.

"I can't do this anymore Aubrey," she whimpered, tears flowing from her good eye and forcing her bad eye to crack open. That one was bloodshot too.

"Let's go to the hospital," he said, but she shook her head.

"Promise you won't make me go to the police. Please promise me," she cried as Aubrey nodded, anything to get her to agree to go to the hospital for the first time since this whole ordeal started and actually get herself taken care of.

"I promise. Let's go," he said, placing his hand on the small of her back but he quickly moved it away when she winced and stepped away from him.

Demi moved her hair to the side, staring at the quarter sized bruise on her temple that the doctor had explained would probably never go away. Permanent nerve damage was what he had said. Then she watched the TV through it's reflection in the mirror, stilling at the headline that ticked across the bottom of the screen: Trey Songz Accuser "He Hit Me So Hard That I Threw Up From Concussion".

And she shivered as she remembered throwing up as soon as Aubrey had dragged her into the hospital and the nurse later telling her that she couldn't go to sleep because the punch that had been delivered to her temple had caused a concussion, the result being the only bruise she still had as evidence of what he did to her.

For so long she had kept quiet. First of all, they had a child together. And even though he had treated her like total and complete shit, she couldn't ignore the fact that he was an amazing father. He was caring and loving and for so long he had drilled it into her head that he beat her but didn't beat his son because his son listened to him and he wasn't a whore who pissed him off. She couldn't take that away from him because she was always around when he was with their son, and he had never raised his voice at him. Never raised his hand at him. And Aiden loved his dad.

Second of all, she didn't want to go through such a public ordeal, which is why she never went to the hospital except for the one time when she decided that she had finally had enough, that she was going to leave him because she couldn't take it anymore.

"When he saw me speaking to another man, he came over and immediately began to punch me in the face. Others witnessed the assault, and I'm calling upon them to come forward. I would also like a full apology from Trey for having to go through this, and I would like for the investigator that he hired to stop going after my family. This is between me and him, no one else."

She wasn't a crier. But once she remembered that she was no longer in contact with her family because the same thing happened to her, she started to cry with the woman, with Andrea, because she had a good family. But because of the man that had ruled her life for nearly five years, they no longer wanted anything to do with her. And Demi had never explained to them about what really had gone on with her and Trey.

And that's when she began to get mad. She had lost so much after finally leaving that mess of a relationship, a relationship that nearly left her dead. She had lost so much. But Trey had lost nothing. And clearly, he was still doing the same shit he was doing five years ago when she hadn't spoken up about it because she was scared of the consequences. But she had already lost everything. What else did she have to lose for speaking up about it now?

I just want to give you guys a break down on how this story is formatted, or at least how the first few chapters are. This story is based on the song consequences by Camilla cabello. A majority of the first few chapters are told in flashback which will be italicized. Anything that isn't italicized is told in the present. I also included Instagram posts that kind of tell the story as well ((bc sometimes I'm too lazy to write.) those are also flashbacks. also putting a trigger warning for domestic abuse in this entire story. If you're confused about anything just let me know!
