Rose

Chapter 2

A tall boy was standing in front of me.

"What are you doing here?", he asked.

Fear surged through my veins. He must be Melorian. I looked down at his hands and saw a ring with Melorian's symbol on his left hand. He is Melorian.

"I..." I tried to say something, but words just wouldn't form in my mouth. He raised his eyebrows at me. He had curly blond hair that reached past his chin and dark green eyes. They reminded me of the rainforest around the city.

"I...I'm looking for a bathroom". He just looked at me. He was about a head taller then me.

"Does this look like a bathroom?" He said and pointed at the big wooden door. I looked up at his green eyes.
"No", I couldn't stand his gaze on me, so I looked down again.
"I'm sorry." I mutterd.
"Go downstairs and don't let something like this happen again", he said, "I hope that not all RHs like to poke their noses around Castrum." He turned around and left.

As he was leaving I saw that his shoulders were broad and that his back was muscular. It wasn't too much, but you could see that he had been training his whole life. You could see he was a worrior.

I hurried down the stairs and through the corridor and then I was in the big room again. I saw Abigail standing next to boy that was sitting near me in the classroom.

"Where the hell were you?", said Abigail and the boy next to her turned around to look at me.

"I was just looking for a bathroom."

Abigail gave me a look. "I can see you didn't find it" she said. I started to replay but she continued. "Anyways, this is Max." We shook hands.

"I'm Rose."
"Nice to meet you" he said and smiled.

Suddenly the room fell silent again, I looked up and saw that the man from earlier.

"Your test results are ready" he said. "Two hundred of you passed today's Test." I looked at Abigail, and she gave me a worried look. There must be over four hundred people in this room. Familiar feeling of nervousness was back again. I felt like there was a knot in my stomach. I just wanted to see the results and get this over with. "Results will appear on the south wall every moment. Names aren't sorted by your score, they are sorted in alphabetical order. Those of you who are chosen will come here tomorrow at 9 o'clock. Thank you for you attention." And he was gone again.

I turned around and saw a big screen on the wall, I didn't notice it was there before. Then the names appeared. I saw list of names that begin with A. Everybody around me were muttering somethig. Some were cheering, some were disappointed. I was scanning the list quickly and my heart was beating like crazy. "I'm in!" Abigail shouted. I couldn't turn around to congratulate her, because I just wanted to read part of the list where my name is supposed to be. Then I finnaly saw it. Rose Adley. I let out a scream of joy. "Me too, me too!" I hugged Abigail and we both started laughing. I just felt so relived and happy. We stopped and turned aroun toward Max and he was smiling too.

"Me too.", he said.

We congratulated each other and I felt so much better then I did a couple minutes before. I looked around me and not everyone was this happy, more than a half poeple didn't get in.

We headed for the exit and I just want to go home and rest. It felt good to finally be outside and breathe fresh air. We went to the train station and said goodbye to Max because he said he lived in north part of the city and Abigail and I lived in the east part. We got on train and sat next to each other.

"What do you think tomorrow's testing will be like?", I asked Abigail.

"I don't know. Maybe just basic testing of our skills. Like running, reflexes or somthing like that."
That's what I thought. "Yeah that's what I was thinking too.", I said. "But maybe there will be something with knives.", I looked at her, "You know Melorians love knives." We both laughed at that.
