A time of day
When all is dark
I close my eyes
To keep monsters out
Close your eyes my little girl
For sleep will soon come
An escape to a wonderland
No reason to pout
But I was afraid
Of what was to come
When she turned the lights off
And scary things come out
A shadow in the corner
A creak under my bead
A growl from the closet
But I tried not to shout
But sleep came to my rescue
And I succumbed to the dark
Nothing to hurt me
I had no doubt
But what was to come
Tomorrow night instead
But for now I will rest
My little head.
