prologue

p r o l o g u e

➡ 2 days before.

zayn had been meaning to get more milk, what with all the coffee he drinks.

so that's exactly what he had done. as he entered the flat after going to the nearest shop across the road, the smell of dirt and smoke filled his lungs. he grimaced, heading over to the shelves labelled with each room, holding the post that must have been delivered whilst he was gone.

he bent down on his knees and scanned the bottom shelf for 2a. it was filled with numerous different letters, mostly bills though he guessed. zayn grabbed the pile and sifted through them, rolling his eyes as his assumptions were most likely correct. however, he had stopped himself from standing up again when  his eyes darted to the shelf next to his: 2b.

at first, he shrugged it off. maybe the postman had accidentally slipped some letters into the unused room's shelf. he tucked his post under his arm and reached for the letters on the 2b shelf.

he failed, though, stumbling back and almost falling over at the sound of the door opening. zayn scrambled to his feet, clutching his post in one hand and the pint of milk in the other.

"alright, mate?" the guy from the room above of whom zayn could never remember the name of asked.

"yeah, yeah," he muttered. "just saw there was post in 2b."

"yeah," the guy began. "some girl is moving in."

zayn raised his eyebrows, "shit, really?"

"yep." he chuckled. "well, see ya." 

zayn waved him off, fishing his key out of his pocket and approaching his door. he was sure that this girl would turn up and flee once she saw the state it was in. at least, that's what every other occupant had done so far.

nonetheless, there was still a spark of hope in him that maybe this girl wouldn't leave. why zayn thought that, he had no clue.

so rosie persuaded me to try out writing this as a lowercase fic??? which i kinda like but we'll have to see bc i'm not entirely sure yet 

anyways this was a lil snippet/prologue thingy or whatever

just kinda introducing things

AND I KNOW ITS VAGUE BUT I MAY MAKE THIS BETTER AND OR LONGER

but i'm literally gonna get on with writing chapter one either tomorrow morning or tomorrow after school hehe
