Chapter I

Author's Note

The second (or the first sort-of) chapter of Mated to the Vampire King is finally up!

I know, it's been forever, and i'm sorry! 

Blame school. 

Anyways, I had the sudden urge to write another chapter, so here it is! 

The song above is a great mood-setter (or whatever you want to call it) for this chapter. It's great to listen along while you read. 

Also, the actress that plays Addison is up above, Katherine McNamara. 

She's gorgeous, right?!

Gasping, I shoot up out of bed. The thin gray blanket slips off of my lap, hitting the carpeted floor below. 

I glance around my surroundings. I lay in my jeans and t-shirt, on top of my comforter. I must have fallen asleep when I got home from work earlier. I'll have to remember to thank Jessie for covering me with a blanket. 

The clock reads 3:42 AM on the bedside table. Taking a deep breath, I get up out of bed, and walk to the window. From the view that our quaint apartment provides, I can see the dark alleyway, and a few minor buildings further in the distance. 

Rubbing my forehead, I lean against the windowsill. A thin sheen of sweat covers my face, and I dab at it with my shirt. 

That dream felt so... real. 

 I walk out of my bedroom, into the small room adjacent. Jessie sleeps on the twin sized bed like the angel she is, face calm in the depths of sleep. 

Kneeling down next to her, I swipe the stray blonde hairs from her freckled face. She adjusts to the movement, nose scrunching up for a moment. I lay my hand on her cheek, taking in her lanky frame. 

For a twelve year old, she's sure getting tall. 

I grab the red covers covering her body, pulled down from restless sleep. Slowly, I slide them up to her chin, and quickly kiss her forehead before turning to leave the room. 

A quick intake of breath makes me turn around again. 

"Addie?" Jessie sits up in bed, rubbing her dreary eyes. 

"Hey Jess."

I must have looked distressed to some extent, because she quickly asked;

"Is everything okay?" She went to stand up, but I walked over and helped her lay back down onto the mattress. I kiss her forehead once again, before pulling the blankets back up.

"Yeah, everything's okay. You can just go back to sleep now."

Jessie glanced at the clock next to the bed, before saying;

"Why are you awake right now?"

I sat down on the bed next to her, running my fingers through her blonde hair before chuckling in a hushed tone and saying;
