The Diador, are the predecessors of humans, created by the Gods with aspects of each one. They were created as a test, to ensure that the world's environment was viable to nurture life; and they thrived. Eventually, there were so many beings with divine blood living on that celestial body, that the world manifested as a powerful goddess in her own right, Hearefel. She gave birth to new gods, and created humans to try and quell the hubris of the old ones. Soon the first war broke out between the New Gods and the Old. Countless wars, over millions of years, had spent oceans of blood. Due to the near limitless power of the deities battling, the only way any of these wars could end was if one side was banished; sent to be imprisoned by the Empty Ones, mysterious beings that reside in the far corners of the void. But even that wasn't permanent, and every time they were banished, they became more powerful, taking aspects from the Empty Ones. Each battle they fought, the Diador and the Humans mirrored the ethereal battle on the physical world. The most recent manifestation of this ancient cycle had ended just 11 years ago. What the humans lacked in strength, they made up for with numbers, and determination. Every time they fought, the gods reinforced the divine and none divine gifts of their champions. And when the new age gods lost, their champions remained. They are the easiest target for the new evil. The empty ones are tired of the squabbling, they are coming to destroy everything, make it silent once again, and in their wake is the corruption. There is no chance to destroy them, only to slow them. And there has never been anyone who has resisted corruption; even some of the old gods have fallen under their influence. The Pantheon is existence, and the empty one seek the destruction of every last one.
The wars between the humans and Diador should be extremely one sided, but the wars last for hundreds of years each time. The most recent of the wars lasted 327 years and would have continued longer if not for the aid of an unnamed Diador soldier. Within the 10 years he served, he had slain four of the human kings, all of which were powerful, corrupt, and manipulative, forcing the war to continue for personal gain. It is said that he alone ended the war and made a pact with Torak, ruler of fire, and one of the divine servants of the gods. But he was not a champion, champions are servants of the divine beings, chosen by showing feats favored by that particular god at that particular time. Those champions normal abilities become amplified, or changed completely, based on the whims of that god, a child of Ferrinal, the goddess of Knowledge, can foresee the future, a champion of Ferrinal, can change the future, and show truths, among other things. But even that is no match for the empty ones, who exist in the void, thus, are outside of space and time. They are thought to be invincible, everything they come across becomes a servant to them, even the gods themselves. And when it all belongs to them, they will destroy every last part.
