this is my interpritation of *spoilers alert* L's death from Death Note.
"There are many types of monsters in this world, monsters who will not show themselves and who cause trouble. Monsters who abduct children, monsters who devour dreams, monsters who suck blood, and monsters who always tell lies. Lying monsters are a real nuisance. They are much more cunning than other monsters. They pose as humans, even though they have no understanding of the human heart. They eat, even though they've never experienced hunger. They study even though the have no interest in academics. They seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such a monster, I would likely be eaten by it because, in truth, I am that monster".
He was only young. Too young. 25.
Then he was taken. Stolen from us. We never knew his true name, but thats quite alright. Ryuzaki? L? We will never know... No matter. He was still the same beautiful person we all grew to love. Like a child trapped in the body of a man, his quirky way of life brought an instant happiness to all who layed eyes apon him.
Too Soon... Too soon to be gone. and its one mans fault. Kira. What would possess someone to do such a deed. A heartless deed. And yet Kira felt nothing but pleasure...
His cunning ways convinced an innocent Shinigami that L's ways would bring harm to her human friend. There was nothing she could do but fulfill Kira's wishes.
The pen made its way across the pages of the Death Note and soon the one L cared about most was erased; like the data on the screen. Watari was gone. One final tear escaped his eye and he fell to the floor in agony. The innocent Shinigami began to sparkle as her long arms began to change to something that was neither sand nor dust. Soon there was nothing left... The death note fell to the floor and she was gone; just like the small Shinigami friend before her.
