Sirens. Sirens everywhere.
That's all Ferdinand could hear. He was laying in a puddle of his own blood, not able to move. He was slipping in and out of consciousness. He knew he most likely wouldn't make it. And he was glad.
His eyes drifted to the back door, where his father was currently running out. He ran into the woods behind the house.
The door burst open, and around 6 police officers with guns raised ran in. One of them knelt beside him as the others ran after his dad.
The officer with him, a woman in her early thirties, put pressure on the large wound in his stomach.
"Can you hear me?"
Ferdinand opened and closed his mouth, no sound coming out. The woman took it as a yes.
"Alright. I need you to keep your eyes open for me, Okay? Whatever you do, don't close them."
Ferdinand felt himself slipping quicker. The officer must have noticed and pulled out her walkie talkie, asking for the location of the ambulance.
I wouldn't be able to wait that long.
A thought crossed my mind, and my eyes snapped open.
"N-"
The officer looked down at him quickly. Her hands were covered in his blood, but she didn't seem to care.
"What is it?"
"N-Ni-" he stuttered, then started coughing, his body jolting with each one.
"Ni?"
He moved his hand, his vision flashing white at the searing pain it caused. He curled all of his fingers besides the pointer finger, pointing to the door by the kitchen.
"What's In there?"
"N-ni-" he cut off, coughing again.
The woman moved his hands carefully, keeping them on his wound as she stood up, walking towards the door. She kicked the door open and scanned the room, eyes settling on a little girl huddled in the corner. She only had a bruise under her eye visible.
She jumped and started crying when the door hit the floor.
The officer ran over and knelt in front of her. "Hey, it's okay. I'm not going to hurt you," she whispered.
The little girl whimpered and backed away from her.
"I'm a good guy. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm going to help you. Can you follow me?"
She looked up at her with wide blue eyes, slowly nodding. "O-Okay..."
The officer smiled and stood up. When the girl didn't follow, she furrowed her eyebrows.
"Can you walk?"
She shook her head slowly, tears threatening to spill from her eyes again.
The officer leaned down slowly and picked her up, carrying her bridal style out to Ferdinand.
He looked up at her and visibly relaxed, sighing quietly in relief.
More sirens could be heard, and the door burst open.
Ferdinand finally fell unconscious.
