Later that day, Ethan decided to go out to walk around town and get some stuff done with the Dolan Twins merch. He made sure he grabbed his sunglasses before he left the house to disguise himself a bit. He wasn't exactly in the mood that late morning for being recognized and taking pictures.
As soon as he sat in his car, and adjusting the mirrors and seat from Dani driving it last, he reached back and grabbed his baseball hat from the backseat, pulling it down on his forehead farther and tucking the stray curls that stuck out on the sides of his head under the cap. He took a glance at himself in his rear-view mirror, checking if he was disguised enough for his own liking.
Check.
Once he got downtown, he was met with bustling sidewalks, the Main Street busy with people much due to the fact that it was a Saturday. Ethan took in a breath, then opened his door and got out of the car.
He was fine for a while, unbothered by the public and anyone around him, until he went into a print shop and took off his sunglasses, where he was met by a group of people who he'd just found out had been following him down the street and into the store. They were carrying cameras, big ones and boom microphones, all equipment labeled Access Hollywood. Ethan held back a sigh. He guessed next time he'd have to come up with a better disguise that covered him up more and made him look less like himself.
Before he could even speak, the camera crew and two interviewers starting bombarding him with questions, overwhelming him,
"So, how old is your son now?"
"We've all heard reasons from the fans, but who is Grant named after?"
"It —" Ethan started, but got cut off again. He didn't even know why they asked questions if they acted like they weren't interested in hearing the answer, or why he even bothered trying to cooperate in the first place.
He should've just done what those other celebrities did and ignored them, but he knew then he would get crap for it if he did go that route.
"Is the middle name Cecil after a great-grandparent?"
"Yeah," he butted in quickly. "It's after her mom's father, his name is Cecil."
"Did you ever think you would be a father at this age?"
"Do you think you'll ever have more kids after after this, with Danielle?"
"Of course," Ethan replied, sure of his answer.
"When will you guys get married?"
"Not anytime soon. We're balancing with a lot right now and we're still teenagers, so....." He looked at them all, waving his hand. "I have to finish my errands, bye now," he told them as he pushed his way through and walked out.
Ah, he could finally breathe fresh air when he gave up on his errands for the day and got in his car, rolling down the windows once he got onto the main road where it was wide and not many cars around him, no one to follow him. He took his baseball hat off, throwing it in the passenger's seat beside him and ran a hand through his dark brown waves, feeling the wind in his hair.
He drove around for a bit, relaxing, the sun on his tan skin. This was the most chill he'd felt in a while, and he loved it.
He wasn't home for another hour, and by that time, he walked in the door to Dani making lunch for Grant, Grant sitting in his highchair waiting.
Ethan smiled as soon as he saw his son's baby face, walking in and closing the door behind him. He took him out of his highchair, nuzzling Grant's nose with his own, saying, "Oh, I missed you kid, yes I did!", his voice an octave higher than it normally was. He kissed Grant several times, leaving Grant in a laughing fit.
"Oh, how I love your baby voice," Dani said, turning around to look at Ethan and grinning.
He laughed, "Well, good, because you're going to hear it for years to come."
"Oh, great."
Ethan smiled, leaning forward and pressing his lips against Dani's. He did it several more times before she pushed him away lightly, a sort of disgusted, almost, look on her face, which concerned Ethan and got him worrying right away that his breath smelled bad or something. "What?" He asked in a slightly panicked tone.
"You need to shave, Ethan Dolan."
Oh. "Yeah, I know. I need to get better at shaving."
She laughed. "Yeah."
"So you're agreeing with me, saying J need to get my lazy ass up and do it."
"Yeah, basically."
They laughed, Ethan telling her, "I love the shit out of you, babe," as they continued to laugh more hysterically.
