Chapter 1
Fuck the world. Every time i find my place, i leave to a new home. I am 16 and I have lived in over 20 homes.
I am now living in Pittsburgh with this new family. They are okay I guess. They consist of Dallas( the youngest daughter), Faith (another foster kid), Logan ( the oldest boy), Bill (the "dad" of everyone), and Molly ( the "mother"). I've been here for about 2 months and I like it here. They treat me like I am a human, not a piece of trash.
"April, sweetie can you come down and set the table?" Molly asked. I liked it when they asked me politely instead of demanding something.
"Yeah I will be down in a sec." I was busy typing away on my computer. Bill and Molly gave it to me as a house warming gift when I came to live here. I was typing a new chapter of my book. It's called "Don't Say Goodbye". When I age out of the system, I want to be a writer. "Don't Say Goodbye" is about a girl who meets a boy at a coffeehouse. They eventually fall in love, but then the boy gets sick and everyday the girl tells him "don't say goodbye". It's kind of cute actually. I have been working on it for about 2 months and so far it's really good.
I went downstairs to set the table. Every kid had a chore to do. Dallas brought down clothes to the laundry, Faith did the laundry, Logan did most of the yard work, I set the table and cleaned it, Molly cleaned and cooked, and yeah.......Oh and Bill sits on his ass and complains 24/7.
"April how do you like it here?" Molly asked while pulling the Mac and cheese out of the oven.
"It's better than any other home I've been in." Well it's true. All the other homes were group homes and usually everyone hated me because I was actually a good person.
"Well that's good, I guess."
"Yeah. That Mac and cheese smells amazing."
"Thank you. It's a family recipe." Let's just say Molly comes from money. Her whole family has 5 star restaurants and what not but Molly never liked cooking that much. I kind of respect her because of that. She goes her own way and doesn't look back.
"April can you go tell everyone it's time for dinner?"
"Sure." I walked upstairs and first went into Bills office. He works from home and he is some kind of business or something like that. I told him it was time for dinner. Then I went to Dallas and Faiths room and told them the same thing. And lastly I went to Logan's room. I knocked on the door and a moment later he opened the door.
"What do you want!?!"
"Damn I just wanted to tell you it's time for dinner!" I am sick and tired of him always being obnoxious. He acts like he knows everything. And if you ever knock on his door that's the response you get.
When I went back downstairs, everyone was at the table...... Well almost everyone. Stupid Logan. I went to my seat and began eating very good food. Only 2 more years and I'm done with the system. Can't wait!
