"Hello class!" Mr. Brooks says and Kyle and I stopped talking and turned our attention to our science teacher.
"Hello."
"Today we're going to get straight into the lesson. Pick a partner."
Kyle and I both turned around and looked at each other before smiling. We were always partners in science, since Matthew or Scott and Natalie, Rose, or Calina weren't in this class.
"Now as a partner, pick another pair of partners."
"Kyle!" someone calls and we snap our head in the direction of the voice.
It's Noah. The golden boy number two of our school. I actually kind of like him. Kyle nods to him after he asks me if it's okay. We pick up our stuff and walk over to Noah's table.
Where Jacob Coleman is sitting. Uh oh.
"Hey Kyle! Hi Kaylie!" Noah says, smiling brightly as Kyle and Noah do a "bro hug" and then Noah hugs me, and I feel butterflies in my stomach.
"Hi Noah," I reply, then averting my attention to Jacob, the boy that's sitting down checkin me out while smirking.
"Jacob, right?" Kyle says and Jacob nods and smirks.
"Kyle Fleming. I've heard lots about you," Jacob replies and Kyle grins.
"And you too," Kyle replies and they get into a conversation about football.
"Kaylie!" Noah calls and he walks over to me.
"Noah!" I copy him and he chuckles.
"How have you been?"
"Good, I guess. Trying to make small talk?"
"Nah, trying to make big talk," he says, and I laugh.
"I don't think you're very good at that."
"Who are you to judge me?"
"Kaylie Fleming," I reply and he nods.
"Right. My bad. Judge me all you want."
I laugh, throwing my head back.
"Such an angelic laugh Kaylie," he comments, and I blush.
"Kaylie," Kyle calls out.
"Kyle," I mimic.
"The queen of mimicking, eh?" Noah jokes and Kyle chuckles while I laugh.
"Do you know Jacob?"
"Natalie told me about him. But no, I don't."
"Cool," he says, "well this is Jacob, he was here during freshman year. He... plays football...?"
"Yep, I do," Jacob confirms.
"That reminds me, Noah, you wanna come over today?"
"Sure," Noah says and apparently Jacob's coming over too.
It's going to be a long day.
