The game was almost an hour away and we won by a mere point. I hated admitting it, but it was mostly my fault that we barely won. My head was all over the place. I kept making bad calls and failing to catch the ball over and over again to the point where Coach Blackwell had to scream my ear off during halftime in order for me to get my shit together.
It was sad to think this way, but I was mostly only glad that we won because if we hadn't it would have been one depressing bus ride back to school. Not to mention, my friends and teammates probably would have been tempted to kick my ass for my lousy performance. Thankfully, though, it was the usual rowdy and cheerful trip on our return, allowing me to fade into the background as I sat in my seat by the window.
We all showered at our opponent's school before we had left so when our bus pulled into the parking lot the whole team parted ways and went to their own cars right away. It was about seven-thirty and since it was a Thursday my friends all had to get home for dinner or homework so I didn't have to worry about finding a way to ditch them for Dakota.
It only took about five minutes of banter with the guys and exchanging glances across the parking lot with Dakota before they all decided to split. Not a single person besides me noticed that the tan, dark-haired boy was just casually leaning against his car alone instead of leaving as well.
When the coast was clear and the entire parking lot of the school was empty except for the two of us, I jogged over to him. The smile he was giving me was so adorable that I couldn't help myself. I put both my hands on his face and pulled him closer so I could give him a firm kiss on the lips. I pulled back and watched his eyes slowly open to see me grinning down at him.
I waited a minute for him to say something, but he just kept giving me a goofy smile so I dropped my hands from his cheeks and said, "Weren't we going to go somewhere? Or are we gonna stand here in the parking lot all night?"
Dakota looked embarrassed as he said, "Yeah, sorry. You just got me all distracted."
A smirk slipped onto my lips and I stepped forward, pressing him against his car. My pulse was pounding inside my ears while his eyes widened with either fear or excitement, or a combination of them both. I said, "Distracted, huh? You know, I think I'm really good at distractions."
Dakota swallowed nervously as I pressed my forehead against his. My hands gripped at his waist, my thumbs pressing slightly against his hips. "Y-you are?"
"Oh yeah," I said in a lowered voice. I brought my lips up to his ear and asked, "You ever thought about having sex in a car?"
I felt Dakota both shiver and harden against me. He stuttered out, "N-no. I h-haven't really."
I chuckled a little and backed off despite how badly I did not want to. "Don't worry, I'm just teasing you." I gave him another kiss when his face flushed a deeper red. If he didn't look so fucking attractive when he got flustered and embarrassed I would have felt a lot worse, but as it stood, I didn't feel bad at all. I flicked his nose before stepping away and said, "Come on, let's go. I'll follow you back to your house."
The drive took longer to get to his place than it would have been to mine, but I didn't mind. It was only an extra five minutes on top of an already short distance since the high school was on the road right behind ours, and I really was interested in seeing Dakota's house.
When we got there, I parked behind him in the driveway and got out, following him around the front of the house and in through the front door once he got it unlocked. Dakota led me through the hallways, and I looked around as we walked. I noticed there were a lot of family pictures hanging up and that made me smile. You wouldn't find a single one of those in my house. My mom thought they were tacky and too personal for guests to be looking at when they came over.
