The sound of scribbling on a page filled Garret's ears as he snuck through the house, Erin creeping behind him. He peered into a room whilst she walked into another, grabbing anything that looked moderately shiny.
"Never stolen from a Castle before, let alone somewhere out of The City." She said, tossing a ring up in the air before catching it, and sliding it onto her finger.
Garrett rolled his eyes. "And maybe we'll get to do it again, if you'd shut up and stop making so much noise."
Erin glared at him, but crouched down and walked into the room Garrett had previously been lock picking. He went to a desk and began to go through it, the sounds of footsteps filling his ears. He then noticed the scribbling of pen on paper had stopped. He looked at Erin, who was looking at him. She bolted, him following close behind. Before he could get out, the man walked in.
Garrett threw himself under the bed, but it knocked over a glass that had been resting near the beds end, catching rain water that had been dripping in. His breathing was hard but steady, and his body was tense, ready to lunge him self out through the door.
The man who had entered didn't say anything, but Garrett could hear a blade being unsheathed. He let out a deep breath, not moving an inch as the man walked around the room.
Suddenly, you could hear the breaking of glass, and footsteps running. Erin, he thought. The man walked towards the door, which Garrett used as an opportunity to slip from under the bed and knock him over with the blackjack.
The man went down, although it was a failed attempt to knock him down. He waited for the thief to think he was out cold and was leaving before getting up to follow him. There's at least two, he though to himself.
Garrett walked quickly after Erin, but found himself in a hall, a girl standing tall with a sword in her hand. Garrett stopped, pulling out his blackjack. Although it was meant for knocking people out, he could kill with it if it comes to that. And he hoped it didn't.
Behind the thief the man saw his daughter, armed and ready, he could tell she had seen him, but he could tell the thief behind her could see him too.
"This'll be fun..." the thief behind Emily sang, a small hitch in the throat for a chuckle following. She grabbed something at her belt, making the thief in front of him twitch, but with hesitation, ran and slid under Emily and grabbed what the girl thief had.
"Erin, no!" He said, his voice deep and gruff. Something filled Corvo, making him get up and grab Emily before she could use that chance to make a swing at the two thief's.
"Garrett!" Erin grunted at the man in front of her. "Garrett, let me go."
Emily moved from her fathers grip to stand besides him, gaining the attention of Garrett, who looked at her, which Erin took to her advantage and hit him with his own blackjack, him falling over, but not knocked out.
Erin rushed at Emily, but Emily was suddenly on the other side of the room, Corvo suddenly by Garrett, grabbing him and holding him hostage.
Erin growled, Garret struggling against the man's grip. He soon began to loose expression in his face, slumping down. He could hear Erin gasp and lunge at the man, but he could also hear a wisp, and Erin stumbling.
By no means did Corvo want to kill these two, and Emily could tell, cause if Corvo did, he'd have done it by now. She grabbed Erin with her magic, swinging her over to her, holding the thief in a chokehold. She let the thief slip through her fingers.
"She's not a doll, Emily." Corvo said. Emily mumbled a sorry, picking Erin back up and holding her into her arms.
Garrett jumped up, looking at the two, seeing what they had done to Erin. She was alive, still breathing, but sleeping.
He softened, putting a hand up to show that he was done fighting the two, who obviously weren't trying to kill him.
"I'll take her, and I'll take my leave." He spoke quietly, holding a hand out to Emily who had Erin. She looked to the man and he turned to Garrett.
"Come with us, Garrett." He said.
"Father-" Emily began, but the man silenced her by putting up a hand.
"We will not report you, but you must come with us, so we can walk you through the front door."
"I don't like doors." Admitted Garrett, who still had up his mask. Emily had up a similar mask, but made of a rich purple and gold embroidered fabric.
"Then you can go through the window next to the door, it seems to be the way you got in." Said Emily, who was now narrowing her eyes at him.
Garrett frowned, glaring right back at her.
"Emily," Her Father said with a stern tone. "Let's Go."
"As the Empress I should be making those decisions. Garrett, lets go." She said, throwing Erin over her shoulder and making her way down the hall, eventually going down a flight of stairs.
Garrett looked at the man who now seems to frowning whilst shaking his head in a disapproving manner.
"She tries." He said finally, following after her, leaving Garrett no choice to to follow as well.
"So, Thief, What made you want to live like this?" He asked.
Garrett looked at him with sly eyes. "I stole to survive at first, but now I survive to steal. It's the only life I've known." It seemed so comfortable to talk to the man, but Garrett didn't answer anymore questions he asked.
Corvo looked at his daughter as they entered the throne room, shaking his head disapprovingly. She only slumped Erin further onto her shoulder and frowned under her mask.
"No need hiding your face, Lady Emily, it's already all over town." He said.
"I'll only take it off if you take off yours."
"Sorry, no can do. Now give me Erin." He demanded.
"Watch Your tongue," Corvo said, although he planned to do nothing about it. He knew how thieves acted, even though he was an assassin, and he knew Erin was an assassin as well by the way she acted. Most thieves don't kill unless they have to to get out.
Emily passed Erin over to Garrett, wanting this to be over. She couldn't believe Father was just letting them go so easily. Maybe this was a test, a test to show that she needed to act upon her own words, and not her fathers.
She leaned over to a guard who was near the door. "Arrest them once Corvo leaves the room." She wondered what was wrong with her father to make him let them go so easily.
