Chapter 1 : English Partner

Andrea's POV

It was raining as usual. I took a quick look around my bedroom and caught something from the corner of my eye. It was past 10'o clock which meant I was late for school again. Since the accident two years ago, I'm now living with my mom and my sister. My mom woke up really early, around 6 o'clock, so I have to wake up by myself. I rapidly brushed my teeth, put some clothes and shoes on and went to school.

When I opened my history class' door, the class already started. All eyes were on me.

"What about you come and join us miss Lauren" said Mr. Cops , my history teacher, sarcastically.

"Sorry" was all I could say. I was blushing. I knew it because I felt the blood on my face.

"Huh huh" nodded my teacher.

My history class was boring. We talked about King Louis XVI. I had an exam in three days on him. We were in the middle of the semester so there were always exams in each class. Finally, the bell rang. I started to get my books when my friend Marc surprised me.

"Happy birthday Andrea! Wow how does it feel to be seventeen? " he teased. He kept talking not even giving me the time to answer. " I bought you a present".

My mom didn't even wish me a happy birthday nor left me a note or something. My dad used to make me a huge chocolate cake for the occasion. My mother is totally different. Since my father died the day of my 15th anniversary because of an accident, I want everybody to forget my birthday. I don't feel like celebrating it anymore.

"You know I hate presents." I sighed but opened it anyways.It was a teddy bear and a box of chocolate. " Thank you" I'm not sure I meant those words.

"No problem. So what are you doing after school? Do you want to hang out?" Marc asked hopeful.

"Sorry. I'm celebrating with my family tonight." I lied.

"Oh then what about.."

"I don't think we should hang out" I interrupted.

"How come?"

"I don't think Marie-Ange will approve".

"M-A?" he seems surprised.

"Marc , are you blind?" I said. "You should ask her out."

"Oh" and he left with a sad face.

M-A always had a crush on him. Two years ago, when I was new in this school, she was the first one to talk to me and since then we are best friends.

When I was walking to the cafeteria, I found a garbage and threw the teddy bear and the box of chocolate in it. I know it's mean, but I just can't stand it. I saw my bestfriend who was waving at me urgently to come and sit.

"Hey. What's up?" I said.

"There is this new guy that just came and he's sooo hot" she said excitedly. "Hope he'll be in one of my classes. Look, he's over there."

I look in the direction she pointed at. She was right. He was gorgeous. He had blond hair and blue eyes. He was a bit muscular and had a beautiful figure.

"Wow" I said breathless.

"I know" joined M-A.

Suddendly, he looked at me. I didn't know what to do, so I just looked at him like an idiot. He smiled and looked away. He was sitting alone, eating, while everybody was staring at the new handsome guy.
