I woke up. First day of College. Perfect. It had been seven years since I had seen Daniel. He left after I left fifth grade and he left sixth. We only knew each other for a year, but he was a better best friend than others I had ever met, even after he went away to Colorado. I had gotten a scholarship to come to a university in Colorado, which I thought was funny coincidence. Maybe he would still be here. He never gave me a specific place in Colorado, so I didn’t know if he was close to my College or if he was still here at all. That wouldn’t stop me from enjoying my life here. I had been looking forward to college for years and now that it was finally here, I couldn’t wait to get started!

I walked into my class with a big smile and a messy bun. It was a signature hairstyle for me ever since Daniel screwed up doing a bun with my hair on the last week of fifth grade. Every one watched me as I found a seat to sit in. After I reached highschool and my womanly features decided to surface, i got asked out plenty of times, but I declined them all, positive that all they wanted me for was my looks. I wouldn’t let that get me down though. I would work hard and earn my degree. That’s what I promised my parents! I would follow through.

Everyone stopped talking as a boy walked in. I let out a small gasp.

He was gorgeous.

He had dark brown hair that curled just slightly and the deepest darkest chocolate eyes that I had ever seen. He was tall and well built, and he wore a close fitting t-shirt over that well defined chest. I could tell he was popular. He probably already had a girlfriend. I watched him as he began to walk again, straight for me.

I was crying inside. He would probably look at me and ask me if I had any friends at all, just like fifth grade all over again, seeing as how I was only a freshman and I didn’t really seem like the type to make friends or talk to people in general.

“Hey there!” He said looking at me with a smile plastered on that beautiful chiseled face. I sneaked a glance at his lips. what I wouldn't give to kiss those lips. Wait, what are you thinking Janessa?! He obviously has a girlfriend. Stop dreaming!!

He glanced at my bun before his smile got even wider. “I like your bun. It suits you.” as does everything else about my curves and desirable features. “Do you mind if I sit here?” Wait. He wanted to sit next to me? Obviously he didnt have this class with his girlfriend if he was being so bold as to sit next to another girl.

“S-Sure. Go ahead. I’m not stopping you. And by the looks of it, neither is anyone else.”

He chuckled at that, a deep hearty laugh that made me melt inside. “You’re funny, you know that? I’m guessing you’re a freshman. Just starting out? Watch out for the others in this class, then. They don’t do well with newbies. I’m a sophomore here, but you probably already knew that.”

“Y-Yeah, I am a freshman. But what do they have against freshman here?”

“They think that the freshman have so much energy since they just came from public school system, where everything was practically handed to them on a silver platter educational wise. This school is hard work. What are you doing here? You got some sort of inheritance that helped you out here? A rich grandparent maybe?”

“No, I’m here on a full ride scholarship for academics.”

“What?!?!?! You’re joking. You have to be. This school is crazy hard to get even a partial scholarship. How did you get a full ride?!?!”

“I studied, duh.”

“Well, I guess that makes sense. My parents are paying for me. I’m only here on a partial scholarship for basketball.”

So he played basketball, huh? I could use that in future conversations. Just then the teacher came in, and my first lesson in college life began.

So, who's this dark-haired mystery boy? Could it be Daniel, or just someone she met on her first day? And what happened to Daniel? Read on for more!!
