I pushed the door open to the restaurant and felt a blast of cold air that was perfect refreshment for this hot summer day.

I saw who I was supposed to be meeting at a table for three, with their backs to me and on my way over to them I glanced in a mirror.

I saw my waist-length straight dark blonde hair and blue-gray eyes set in my tan heart shaped face. My 5' 8" body was sheathed in yellow sundress with black flowers along the bottom. My all ready long legs looked a lot longer in black gladiator heels and I had done just a bit of makeup.

Taking a deep breath and squeezing my black leather clutch, I stepped over to the table.

"Boo," I whispered into Bridget McCarthy, my best friend's, ear and she jumped about a foot in the air.

"EVE!" She squealed with her hand over her heart. "Do you really want to kill me!?"

"Hehe... Maybe..." I answered slyly as she stood up to hug me.

"It's been way too long!" she said and I replied with an "I know!" when I noticed the man she was with didn't stand up.

"Way to be rude," I muttered before taking a quick look at him. What I saw made my heart practically stop.

No.

It couldn't be him.

But, there he was, in the flesh; staring at me as if I had fifty heads or something.

But it's not like I wasn't staring at him the same way.

Bridget took my hands in hers and squeezed them; when I looked down, I realized that she had a gorgeous ring. On the third finger of her left hand.

"YOU'RE ENGAGED!?" I practically screamed at her, enveloping her in another hug.

"Yes! This is my fiancé," She said, gesturing at him. "Luther Duncan."

But I all ready knew his name.

"Luther, this is my best friend in the whole world, Eve Lyons."

He stood up, mossy green eyes never leaving mine once, and said, "It's a pleasure to see you." His voice was the same as it was summers ago.

I noticed that he didn't say meet.

"Likewise," I murmured and looked back at Bridgett. She had short brown hair and chocolate eyes that were hidden behind rectangular glasses. She was biting her pale pink lips and I noticed that she was nervous.

"Well, let's sit down," Luther said after a bit of silence.

"I love your dress," I told her as we took our seats. It was gorgeous; it was short-sleeved, the top was white and it crossed over her chest and underneath that was a black strip of fabric that lead to a teal skirt that ended a little above her knees.

"Thanks, same with yours," she smiled at me and I grinned back, momentarily joyous that I had my best friend with me. Then I turned to see him. My face instantly fell and I distracted myself from his masculine face, dark wavy locks of hair, and staring deep brown eyes by hiding behind the menu.

"So what are you ordering?" I asked Bridgett and she replied, "The veggie platter... You?"

"Grilled salmon all the way," I told her with a grin.

"Just like old times, huh?"

"Hell yeah! Oh, and speaking of old times, Bryon is gonna be joining us soon. He's been complaining about not seeing you in ages."

As if on cue, my phone buzzed and I looked at the screen with a chuckle. "Speaking of the devil, 'scuse me."

"Hello?" I answered my twin brother Bryon's phone call.
