If you are an anime fan then you might have heard of the show called Hetalia. It is created by Hidekaz Himaruya to teach history in a fun comical way, but no one has ever thought of why it was created. The truth is that there were normal human beings like you and me, but had to live the reality in their country. They have the same human names as the character and lived in the same country as the one they represented.

Feliciano Vargas was clearly represented as Italy. He acted as nothing was wrong in his life, and if something happened he would try to be possitive about it. The thing is that Feliciano had depression for as long as he could remember, but decided to hide it from the rest of the world. One day, he came home and commited suicide. This is why Italy has been so happy during rough times in the show. Feliciano was also supposed to have a twin named Lovino Vargas. Lovino was still born and never lived a day out of their mother's womb. This could explain why Romano had some hatred towards Italy because he was allowed to live and grow.

Ludwig Beilschmidt was a soldier who took his job seriously and had high expectations. He never was in any of the high rankings, but pushed himself  hard to strive for his goal. He stayed in the in the millitary for quite a while until he started to lose his memory and was forced to leave the military for good. Ludwig was sent to a hospidal to help with his condition and was given medicine to treat it. Unfortunately, he was given an overdose on his medication and died in a coma. The closest character that could resemble Ludwig is Germany. He's practicaly the only one who very strict about what he does. Also it explains the theory between Germany being the Holy Roman Empire.

America is based on a 15 year old boy by the name of Alfred F. Jones. He was just a normal teenager living in modern days. Later on in his life, he believed that he was gaining weight and developed anorexia nervosa, but kept eating loads of food. Alfred's disorder got worse that he collapsed and died while he was still a teenager. See the similarities? I guess this explains America's love for fatty foods and his child like behavior.

The youngest in real life was Matthew Williams. He was just a 7 year old child who was neglected from his own parents. Matthew tried to get his parents to pay attention to him, but they decided to just forget about him. While they forgot about him, he started to get hungry, but didn't know how to feed himself. After days turned to weeks, he died of starvation. Canada is the only one who represents little Matthew. An invisible, soft spoken boy who tried to get noticed by everyone.

Then there was Francis Bonnefoy. He was a young adult living on his own in Paris. He had a hard time making money on his own, so he resorted to male prostitution. The job made him money to pay for his apartment and expences. One day, while he was off duty, he was attacked and raped by a stranger. Due to the rape, Francis developed AIDS and was forced to leave the sex industry imediately. He spent the last years of his life in the hospidal fighting with his condition. He later died of AIDS. Francis Bonnefoy was the inspiration for France, but Himaruya had to keep it mild since the show would be seen by young viewers, so he made him act perverted.

In the United Kingdom, there was a man who had a lot of class and was very wealthy. Arthur Kirkland had money and owned many buildings. He had private property and even went to excusive dinner parties. Suddenly, he started to have finacial troubles and worked hard to keep everything he owned, but that soon ended. He lost his friends, shut down most of his businesses, and even lost coustidy of his only son when his wife divorced him. He was in so much distress after what happened that he turned to hallucinagenic drugs to ease his pain. Arthur decided to take these drugs often that he started to create imaginary friends. On a rainy summer afternoon, he became overdosed with the drug that he started to spaz out and die. Of course, this man was the idea of England. Are you starting to get the picture yet? No? Then let me explain to you how some of the other characters were formed.

Wang Yao, the inspiration of China, was a child laborer at the age of four. He got little pay and sometimes had to work over hours, but he had to get money to pay off his family's debt. When Wang got older, he started to work in a restraunt. It was a bit run down, but it payed well for him and he enjoyed cooking for everyone. After working there for a few years, Wang was cooking duck for one of the customers. While he was cooking it, he didn't know that carbon dioxide was seeping through one of the pipes. Once the gas hit the heat of the stove he used, a large ingulfing flame spread through the building. Many were alright and few died. Wang was one of those few people. As Hetalia potrays him, China is a very skilled cook and his allies love what he makes. Which this makes sence.

Ivan Braginski was just a small kid of twelve years old. He lived in a Solviet, Russia with his mother and two sisters. His home was right in the center of Solviet. Ivan didn't have any friends except stray animal that he found. Many people made fun him for how shy he was. He didn't have confidence in him to defend himself. On another snowy day, Russian soldiers passed by his town. Ivan was watching them until he noticed an injured bird across the street. Ivan scurried through the line of soldiers to aid the bird, but he noticed some of the soldiers behind him. They told him to kill it or he would be a humiliation to his country, and he did it. After that day, Ivan developed a dark side and killed more animals, until he went into the forest and accidently killed himself by one of his own traps. This explains why Russia's got his darkside then.

Now...you maybe thinking, "What about Japan?" Well you see...that's Hidekaz Himaruya. He is the only one with a different name and hasn't died yet. Haven't you noticed that Japan in the show is always observing the others and listening to their stories and problems? Why would he even do this? Maybe to give these people a voice. Maybe it was to give these lost souls happiness. Or it was to bring them together. We'll probably never know.
