Running, screaming through the dark. Heavy breathing could be heard from the weak injured little boy, he whimpers as the dark red, rust smelling blood run down his arms. Whimpering as he falls against the bald cypress tree roughly, looking around as the paranoia sets in. "LOUIS!" he hears as the voice carries through the dark park woods.
~~A DAY LATER~~
Louis sat quietly in the back of the well-lit school room, glancing back up at the whiteboard slowly writing down the notes before the teacher would erase them. The person in front of him turned sideways in their seat and looked at him for a second, Adrian he thinks the boy's name was"Louis.." the person whispered.
"Huh?" Louis whispered back not bothering to look up at the person, "Have you heard about the Devil tree?" He whispered back, quickly glancing to make sure he wouldn't get caught talking in class. " No, I haven't what's it about?" Louis whispers back looking up at the boy this time. After hearing many other rumors, or legends Louis has learned the eyes say if it is really true or not.
Eyes tell all.
"Okay, but be ready it's a long one." The boy warned, Louis just nodded looking down then back up. " Alright, here it goes." he starts off. "There's beautiful 150-year-old oak tree located in Oak Hammock Park called the Devil's Tree. This legend isn't that old. On January 8, 1971, before the Park there that was built, a serial killer Harry Edward Styles captured two young girls while they were hitchhiking. Styles bound, gagged, raped, then hanged, then buried 19-year-olds Collette Goodenough, and Barbara Ann Wilcox at the Devil's Tree. The crazed killer was said to have returned on several occasions to have his way with the bodies.
In January 1977, two men discovered bones sticking up out of the ground along with deteriorating ropes tied with a hangman's noose. Since then, there have been reports of hooded satanic worshipers dancing around the tree, and some say you can still hear the girls screaming. Though there have been several attempts to cut down the tree, it seems that chainsaws refused to work when near the tree. All the teeth fell out of the saw blade when they tried to cut it down with a two-man crosscut saw. When they tried an ax,-"
Louis sat there quietly with her mouth ajar, she couldn't process what those girls might have gone through. The pain.
"-The ax head came off of the handle and split open the head of the chopper, killing him. The tree is still standing in a small open area down a trail that cuts through the park. Locals pass along stories of cold spots in certain areas of the park and the park lady's bathroom being haunted by the dead girls.
In 1992, a priest placed a cross at the base of the oak and performed an exorcism. In 1994 the cross was knocked over.-
In 1995, Harry Edward styles supposedly was stabbed to death in prison." After he had finished the school bell rang loudly throughout the classroom. "Welp, see you later!" The boy says and practically jumps out of his chair and out of the classroom. louis sat there for a second not know what to do after a bit, he gets up and collects his gatherings placing them back into his bag. Walking to his last class of the day, some of his friends caught up with him. "so have you heard the recent rumor"Niall asked, "Yeah, I heard that it is full of shit." Liam said right after.
Lou laughed, shaking his head " You guys know that, that kind of stuff is fake right?" he said partially agreeing with Liam and looked at them both with a lazy smile. Liam shook his head "Most of them are fake." "Yeah! this one is real!" Niall finished for Liam. Louis didn't listen, he knew it was fake and meant to scare him away. Louis and his friends sat down in the back of the class, Talking softly and doing work.
"Lou look!"
Liam harshly whispered, shoving his phone towards him. Louis grabbed the phone looking at the screen shocked to find a guy holding a police board. "That's Harry" and that's all Liam said after that. Louis didn't want to believe what happened to those girls were real, he wanted to wash it off like he did everything. This photo could be fake he thought to himself "Is that really him?" Louis asks softly staring into the dull green eyes.
