Jack

“Rian, where’s your heart? This kid doesn’t even know us! For all we know, he could be a great guy!” I shouted at my not-so-nice-anymore best friend. Honestly, ever since we met Matt, Ri’s been acting different -- and not in a good way. He used to be a really nice dude. But now? Now, it’s like he doesn’t even have a soul or remember who he was before Matt came into the picture.

“Oh, shut the fuck up Jack,” he snarled. “Lighten up for fucking once!”

“Ha, remember when you were an up-tight stiff and I was a laid-back kind of guy? Did I ever ONCE tell you to ‘lighten up for fucking once’, Ri? I don’t think I did! Ri, I’m just trying to be rational here; I’ve been following the kid for weeks, and I’ve seen everything. I’ve never spoken to him, but he’s a pretty cool guy. He’s nice, he’s funny, not to mention attractive, but that’s besides the point,” I shot back at him. Matt pretty much forced me to this kid around. Not that I even cared, the kid is fucking gorgeous. I think I may have a slight crush on him.

“I’ve heard him play his guitar and sing, he’s fucking talented, and his best friend plays the bass. Think about it, Ri! Go against Matt for once and help me protect this kid! We could befriend him and his best friend, and we could start that band that we’ve always wanted! C’mon, Ri; don’t tell me you actually want to murder an innocent guy that your best friend may have  a slight crush on, do you?”

Rian crossed his arms across his chest and raised an eyebrow, analyzing me like I was his 10th grade Biology project, like he didn’t believe me. He gazed into my eyes, and I stared back into his, letting him know I am 100% serious about this.

His eyes widened and he gasped, “You do like him! Jack, I’m sorry for being a douche, but you know I have no say in this,” he apologized. “I have to do it, whether I want to or not. I’m so sorry.” I shook my head and scoffed.

“Ya know, you don’t have to do everything that little prick tells you; you’re twenty times stronger than he is,” I shouted. “for Christ’s sake, Rian! If you won’t stand up for yourself and help me save a life, fine. I’ll do it on my own.” I stormed out of Rian’s basement, and as he was calling my name, I didn’t acknowledge him. I just kept going.

Seriously, Rian needs to stand up to Matt and stop being a fucking pussy all the time.

So, I’m headed out to find the kid that Rian and Matt are targeting.  It’s about 8 PM, so he should be walking home from his friend’s house about now. I headed towards his friend’s neighborhood, and just as I suspected, he was there. I his in the dark alley he was about to walk past, and lunged at him before he was able to make it past the alley way.

I took hold of his wrist, and pulled him towards the alley. He gave out a tiny shriek of surprise and fear as I pulled on his wrist and shoved him up against the wall.

I can barely see his face, but, even in the dark he looks beautiful...
