Tyler's P.O.V.
It was right before lunch. I was at my locker getting my stuff when I heard Gabe shout from one end of the hall.
"Yo Ty!" Gabe was running down the crowded hallway. People carved their way to the side to let Gabe pass through.
He was a guy with a built figure, big hands the size of a baseball mit, big long arms and a deep voice.
He was quarterback on the McKinley patriots football team and one of my first friends here at McKinley high.
"How's it goin'?" He asked leaning against the wall of lockers by mine.
"It's going great."
"Did you get a look at the babes yet? They're somethin' aren't they?"
I chuckled. The girls were pretty, but none beautiful. The only girl that was beautiful was her.
I couldn't stop thinking about her.
She was on my mind every second today since I ran into her this morning and again in the hallway.
Every class I walked into so far today, I hoped she would be there. I just wanted to see her.
"Only one girl," I responded to Gabe.
"Who?"
"I don't know."
"Where'd you meet her?"
"In the hall."
Gabe spun around and pointed to each girl that passed us.
"Her?"
I shook my head no.
"What about her?"
"Nah man," I replied as he pointed to another girl.
He did this about five times. He chuckle as he mocked me and I said, "Seriously. She was something."
"What running into a girl in the hall? There's a lot of prime time babes in this school," he explained making me look around. "Just not my sister okay? She's off limits."
I chuckled a little.
Gabe stopped and stared at a girl coming toward us. She was a short blonde in a cheer leading uniform with the patriot logo on her front of the uniform.
She reached Gabes side, and his jaw dropped.
"Hey baby. You look amazing today," he said to the girl.
"Thanks," she replied and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Oh Trish, this is Tyler. He transferred from Blakely," he explained and signaled to me.
She looked me up and down. She smiled giving her sign of approval. Her smile was welcoming and she said, "Where's Blakely?"
Gabe answered, "It's across the state hun. Farm country."
She turned to me and she put her hand out for me to shake.
"I'm Trisha Embry, Gabe's girlfriend. Welcome to Wells Falls and McKinley high," she said shaking my hand.
She spun around to look upon Gabe with a puzzling look.
"Did you ask Tyler to sit with us at lunch?" She waited for Gabe to answer and he looked at her to shrug apologetically.
Gabe said, "Hey Ty would you like to enjoy the pleasure of accompanying her majesty at our lunch table?" He mocked Trisha.
She laughed sarcastically and smacked his arm with her purse that she had slung over her shoulder.
He muttered an "ouch."
"Oh great..." Trisha groaned as she stared down one end of the hall.
I turned to see what she was staring at and so did Gabe.
"Look who's back," Gabe said.
A guy was making his way down the hall. He was big with a military style buzz cut, and sharp defining facial features.
He was muscular with his hands clenched in fists. He had an angered look across his face with narrow eyes.
He was tall but about my height. As he walked toward our direction, he stopped when he reached us.
"Gabe. Trisha," he said solemnly.
He looked at me. His eyes glared me up and down as he scowled.
"Who's this?" He questioned with disguist waiting for Gabe to answer.
Gabe stood stunned and Trisha leaned on him. Her eyes were covered with fear and she shuddered as he intimidated her.
I spoke up to respond, "I'm Tyler Adamszak. Just moved here."
"Well.. Tyler I'm sure you've heard about me by now," he replied sounding cocky.
"Actually no," I chuckled with amusement.
"Mitchell Damons. If you wanna fit in around here, stay cool with me," he said sounding like a command.
I laughed at this guy. Was this all an act or did he really believe he was the best?
My face got hot and filled with rage.
All I knew was this guy was really starting to piss me off.
"I think I'll fit in just fine. I don't need you to tell me what to do."
"Very well then. Don't hurt yourself," he said and he walked passed me and bumped his shoulder against me. He kept walking as I looked back.
"What an asshole," Trisha groaned.
Gabe groaned in reply, "Tell me about it." He looked to me and said, "Don't let him get to ya. Hey listen man, let's head to lunch."
I agreed and shut my locker.
As we headed to the cafeteria, Gabe muttered, "There's someone I want ya to meet."
