Nygmobblepot week Day 7: Trapped Together

-this was a long fic that I literally just finished and I did the pic too cuz I had a great idea fur this day and I wanted it to be as awesome as possible. I hope I didn’t disappoint :3-

—This is it—

[This was it. We're going to die] That was all Ed could think, cramped up in that tiny cabin with Oswald. There was barely enough room to breath, not to mention they were in the middle of a blizzard, snow creeping higher up the outside of the windows each second. There was no way out.
Oswald put in a call to his henchmen earlier that night, but they probably couldn't reach us until the snow cleared..
The best hope they had was to scavange the residence for any food, blankets, matches, the like. Unfortunately, Oswald was of little use at the moment.
Ed looked over to him, curled up in the corner. Ed could tell he was crying. Years of knowing him had let him figure out every one of Oswald's moods, no matter how he tried to hide it.
Ed sighed. Dispite wanting desperately to kill him, he knew this wasn't the time. If he did kill Oswald now, he'd never get out. Not to mention he'd be alone. Alone with his thoughts.. The voice inside him, the riddler, tormented him even when he accepted it. But somehow.. When he was with Oswald, it would quiet down a little.
As much as he hated Oswald, he didn't want that to go away.

"Come on Oswald, we can't sit here forever." He finally spoke up. Oswald shited a little, but didn't look up.
"Why not?" He mumbled, a tear stung voice breaking though.  Ed rubbed his temple in frustration.
"We have to figure out a way out of here." He stated.
Oswald didn't make a sound in response.
--
A few minutes passed with nothing but the tranquil sound of snow falling outside. The ever so often creaking of the walls and squeeking of the mice were almost calming. Ridding the atmosphere of dreaded silence.

But, it wasn't enough.
Ed tapped his leg impatiently. He was starting to get cold. His two layers of spandex green suit weren't enough to sheild him from the ever growing freeze.

Finally, he stood up, desperate to find some blankets or something to start a fire with. He searched the cabin in vian. For after a few minutes, it was clear to him that there were no blankets. He opened a dresser drawer, almost defeated, when his eyes lit up. There were matches in the drawer!
Ed quickly grabbed the matches triumphantly and waltzed over to the unused fire place.

He wasted no time in pulling open the box and lighting the fire. Around the third try, he got it to light. He blew at the flames gently. Though he wasn't an expert, he'd spent his time out in the wilderness when he was on the run.
With Oswald of course.

This wasn't the first time they'd been alone together like this. On the Brink of starvation, death. But before it was different.. Before he had more hate in his heart. He had to pry his hands off Oswald's neck some nights to keep himself from killing him right there.
And, each time without fail, he'd been in a painstakingly awkward situation where Ed had been forced to team up with oswald for one reason or another.
It had always been a sort of situation in which it would be more consiquential to kill him than not.

Fortunately however, each time it'd be less painful than the last. He'd be less angry. It even came to the point where sometimes ed would be concerned for Oswald's well being.
[It's probably the friendship I once shared with him trying to hold on..] He'd told himself, over and over.  Hoping that really was the reason.

Ed shifted his gaze to oswald, shivering pitifully on the ground.  He wouldn't even look at Ed.
[I really fucked up..] Ed thought to himself, looking back at the fire, warming his hands.

Just a few hours earlier it'd seemed normal. Oswald was clinging to Ed for dear life as Ed shot his way through the GCPD. They ran out, covered in blood and followed by  swarm of cops.
Luckily, they lost them on a turnoff from the highway.  Unfortunately, they also got lost.  No matter how smart Ed was, his directional skills were rudimentary. And the idiot that owned the car didn't think to pack any maps.
