The world had a blue tint to it, except the sky. They sky was covered in a cloudy gray smog that acted as a blinder so you couldn't view what was beyond yourself. It was morning and the clouds blocked out most of the sun so only a small glow was showing.
Cliff wandered through the small patch of trees by his house, the smell of slightly damp oak wood soaking into his slightly loose, ripped-at-the-knee jeans. He continued to stroll along the grass patched passageway through the forest. He stopped near an anthill littered with ants. He squatted down next to them balancing on his toes. He watched as the ants carried pieces of food back to its nest to feed their queen. He slowly got up from his position, swinging his arms in a circle so he wouldn't fall over. Cliff was a 16-year-old boy who lived in Bozeman, Montana.
Cliff had slightly shaggy, ginger-brown hair that hung over his forehead. He had a pretty light skin tonel. His left ear was bent over in the corner and were red most of the time.
He made a 180 degree depart and ran back toward his house. He followed the gravel path as he ran by the golf course next to his home. He slowed to a jog as he approached the door to his house. He slowly opened the door and slumped toward his room. He changed to a stagger as he moved past his mom as she sat in front of the TV drinking tea. He finally went into his room and sat on his chair in the corner. He had some chips sitting on desk from the day before.
His eyes went straight to shock as he felt his empty pocket. Without notice he stood up and bolted out of his room. He sprinted back up the road and ran straight back to where he was. He searched the ground for a bit. "Where is it" Cliff repeated over and over. He eventually retrieved a small white quartz rockbit from the ground. He put it back into his pocket. He slowly jogged back his face showing little to no expression.
He wandered into his house and sat down on the empty couch. He sat for about 20 seconds in peace before he heard "Mom, Leo took my toothbrush!" with a shriek. He looked at the stairs. He heard loud, empty, thuds pounding on the wooden stairs. It followed with a "MOM!" from his little brother Nathan. He had just turned 10 less than a week ago. He had light brown hair and eyebrows that were even lighter. His eyes were a very dark green and matched unlike Cliff's. He looked very similar to Cliff but always had food or grape juice stains around his mouth and shirt. He would straggle around and would always blather about everything to their mother about everything. Leo came bolting in after him and denied everything Nathanael said. Leo looked very similar to Nathanael, in fact, they were identical twins. Leo's face was a lot more round and was a lot more red. He was the slightest bit taller than Nathanael and never shut up about it. They played every sport they could have even though they were not very good at them. They typically fell behind in their school work because of that. They ran up the hallway like a herd of elephants. He stood up and strolled into his room. He then shut it off and moved along. He went back outside only to find his brothers still banging on the door. He looked at the clock and realized school started in 10 Minutes. He sprinted into his room and and grabbed his backpack. He sprinted out the door screaming "Bye!" at the top of his lungs. He got on his bicycle so that he didn't have to start his car. He bolted off the porch so fast that light couldn't keep up with him. He then rode off to school at his top speed. He was so far down the road already he couldn't hear his mom scream, "Get back here and get your brothers." Despite the call he kept riding. He rode down the street and looked at the passing group of trees standing so still it was like a ton of pillars supporting a standing wall. He kept riding off like he was flying on the wind. He took a sharp pivot and was nearly flung from his bike. Cliff finally got to his school about five minutes later. He locked his bike to the side of the bike rack because the others had already been locked in all the other places. He ran inside of the brick prison they called a school. He sprinted down the hallways as the middle-school were almost in their classrooms. He had English first period He made it just on time. He waited out the school day like a staring contest with a robot. He was about to make his way home until he realized he brought his bike. He rode home slower than usual because he knew that his mother was waiting at home who had to drive his brothers to school today. He went in but nobody was home. He wandered lost looking into his room. He couldn't hear anything from his family. In fact he couldn't hear anything at all. He ears started to ring growing louder and louder by the second. He could feel his nerves jolting in his arms as he fell to the floor. He got up and limped his way over to the door. His legs starting to fail as he could feel himself falling toward the ground. He was trying to move over to his mother's friends house to see if she was there but only got to the small patch of trees from which he was earlier. His legs failed and he came speeding toward the ground like it was coming up at him. He hit his head on a rotten, deceased tree and blacked out.
