yoongi stood in front of the convenient store, hands buried in his pockets and waiting for his friend to pick him up.
"light my cigarette." a voice rang out behind yoongi. he turned around to see a tall boy behind him with a cigarette in his mouth. yoongi shook his head.
"sorry. i don't have a lighter." yoongi heard the other groan and he took the cigarette out of his mouth.
"what the hell is a person like you here in the middle of the night?" the stranger asked. yoongi thought if he should lie or not but decided against lying, he didn't want the other on his bad side.
"got ditched." he heard the other hiss.
"oof. must've been harsh." the stranger walked until the two were side by side and leaned against the street light post.
"yeah, got ditched at some joint." yoongi explained.
"the burger joint down the street?" the stranger glanced at yoongi's face. yoongi hummed in approval.
"i came here to ask for directions. they said i could go down some dark alleys but fuck that." the stranger nodded, understanding as to what yoongi was saying.
"those alleys sure can get sketchy. especially right now since it's dark." the stranger looked away from yoongi and at the charcoal sky, seeing the blackness of it. "name's jungkook, just in case you were wondering."
"yoongi." jungkook nodded and turned to yoongi.
"do you need a ride?" jungkook asked. yoongi pulled out his phone from his butt pocket.
"my friend was supposed to pick me up, but seems like their not coming." he looked down the street to see if anyone was coming but sadly the streets were empty.
"Where do you live?" jungkook asked as he pulled out his keys.
"why do you want to know? for all i know you could be a killer." yoongi stated, quirking a brow.
"yeah, a seventeen year old high school drop out is going to kill you." jungkook rolled his eyes and looked at yoongi seriously. "coming or not?"
"better go with you. don't want to be scolded at." yoongi said, glancing at the time. he was going to ask about the whole 'high school drop out' thing but let it be for now.
jungkook nodded and grabbed yoongi's hand, pulling him to his car. the car wasn't in bad shape, had a few scratches here and there but nothing bad. he quickly unlocked it before letting go of yoongi's hand, walking to the driver's side.
"thanks." yoongi said quickly as he got in.
"no problem." jungkook got in and slammed the door shut. "now, where do you live?"
"2536 redman street." yoongi said as he closed the door. he noticed the empty pack of cigarettes next to a box of strawberries.
jungkook put the keys in the ignition and started the car before speeding off, driving in the direction to yoongi's house. yoongi tapped his finger against his thigh, looking out the window as he sat there quietly.
after a few more minutes he finally decided to make some conversation. "so you're a high school drop out?" jungkook nodded, still focusing on the road.
"yep. dropped out this year." jungkook confirmed.
"sorry to jump into personal space but why?" yoongi asked, glancing at jungkook.
"couldn't afford it. i live in this car and by myself. the only cash i have is for cigarettes and food." jungkook kept his eyes on the road, feeling yoongi's eyes on him.
"oh." yoongi turned quiet again and suddenly became familiar with where they were.
after a good five to ten minutes jungkook pulled up in front of yoongi's house. "here you go." he parked the car and turned to look at yoongi.
"thanks, again." he opened the car door and got out.
"wait!" jungkook reached into his jacket and grabbed a piece of paper. "here." he handed it to yoongi.
"what is it?" yoongi grabbed the piece of paper and looked at it before back at jungkook.
"my number. you're gonna need it." jungkook flashed a smile before leaning over and closing the passenger door. he looked at yoongi one more time before putting the car in drive and speeding off.
yoongi watched as the other left before putting the paper in his pocket and grabbing his house key, walking to his house and unlocking the door. when he stepped in the first thing he saw was his parents asleep on the couch.
he ran upstairs and to his bedroom, being careful not to wake up his parents. when he reached his room he quietly closed the door and face planted on his bed, tired from the day.
