"I'll see you in my
dreams tonight."
•••"I can't believe she left me alone in this place." I mumbled and sighed.
"Who left you?" A voice said behind me and it startled me. I turned around to meet a young man smoking a cigarette, I was captured by how handsome he was. He wore a all black suit and dress shoes. His jawline was sharp enough to cut someone, it almost seemed like he was wearing highlighter by how bright his cheekbones glowed.
"Hello? You there?" He snapped his fingers in my face and I came back to realize I was totally checking him out. I coughed a little, "Sorry, did you say something?"
He inhaled on his cigarette and rolled his eyes, "I asked who left you?" A faint flush came on to my face.
"Oh, um just my friend, she's around here somewhere I'm sure. She's been excited about this party for months for some reason." I explained and I looked out over the balcony seeing the twinkling lights of the night life city.
"Ah. You don't know what the occasion is for?" The stranger asked me and I thought about what to say. "No, I don't know what it is for. Only a lot of business men and women are here."
I looked over at him and he was still sucking on his cancer stick. Even though I hated cigarettes, I found it attractive if men smoked. It's a weird love hate kind of thing but smoking didn't bother me that much I just didn't want to part take in it.
"Well I'm sure you'll find out soon enough, this place isn't that big. News travels fast." He told me and I nodded along.
"Mi Sun!" I heard someone shout from behind me, the voice sounded familiar and I turned around to see Ji Su running over to me in her heels. "Where have you been? I've been looking all over for-" She stopped mid-sentence as she looked at the man before her.
"Oh! I'm so sorry!" She bowed several times as an apology. I was confused as to why she was bowing to this stranger. Who was he?
"Ji Su.. what are you doing?" I whispered next to her and she glared at me. "You really don't know who he is? This is-" The mysterious man interrupted her before she could finish what she was saying, "Well if you ladies will excuse me, I have to take my leave now." He said as he bowed slightly and dropped his cigarette bud on the ground and used his foot to put it out on the ground.
"Oh yes of course." Ji Su moved aside and as he walked by, "Mi Su, I hope you see you again soon." He gave me a mischievous smile that was almost haunting. I didn't know what it meant or what it implied. I just simply nodded slightly at him. I doubted I would ever see this man again because I'm not apart of these associations.
"What were you doing talking to that man?!" Ji Su jumped at me as soon as the man had left the room. I looked at her confused, "What do you mean Ji Su? What's the big deal?" I shrugged my shoulders and looked down at the ground where the man had left his squashed cigarette.
Ji Su scoffed at me and grabbed my arm and dragged me out and we headed back downstairs to where the party was still going on. The room lively filled with people chatting around and still drinking and sipping on their wine. Probably bragging about whatever they owned or whatever the latest model of car they had. Once we got down to the party a fuzzy sound was heard and we looked to the front of the room to see a woman tapping on the mic.
"Hello ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for coming tonight to welcome back a very important man, our head CEO!" Everyone in the room started to clap and the same mysterious man that I hear met on the balcony had stepped up to the microphone.
What's he doing up there? I thought to myself as I watched as he smiled and waved at the crowd. His features looked so much better in the light that was shining on him. I was intrigued by him for some reason, but I could also feel power radiating off of him.
"Hello my name is Park Jimin for those who do not know," He scanned the crowd and looked at me after pausing, "It is all so good to see you. Coming back from my trip to Hong Kong, I just wanted to announce that the deal has been sealed and we are now partners!" He smiled brightly and everyone cheered and clapped. "Thank you all for coming here to celebrate, I hope this adds more celebration to this lovely night!" He bowed at the crowd and once more everyone cheered again and he walked off the stage. The party resumed to its normal chatter and clinking of the glasses of those cheering over what just happened.
"Ji Su.." I turned to look at her and leaned in, "Is that man the most famous CEO everyone in Seoul talks about?"
"Yes, it is. That's why I was freaking out earlier that you were talking to him. My dad has been close to his company but he's never gotten to talk to his family or even Mr. Park himself who inherited his family's company." Ji Su explained to me and I nodded trying to process the information.
"Hey Ji Su, is it okay if I head home? My feet hurt." I said, "Sure, I'm going to stick around for a while. Call me when you get home okay?" She gave me hug and I hugged her back. "Okay I will, bye bye." I waved and started to make my way out the door. I pulled out my phone out of my purse and dialed a taxi number. I was hoping they would still be out but I knew it was too late. The number went through to an answering machine.
"Damn." I cursed and started to walk home. It was going to be a long chilly walk. My shoulders were bare and I shivered slightly. Well let's hope I get home soon before I'm cold as Jack Frost.
A sports car pulled up beside me and the window rolled down, "Need a ride?"
