Before starting the story, I have to talk to boy readers. I had to choose the character sexuality and since most of the people on this site/app are girls, I decided to make the main character a women too.

I'm sorry for that, but since I didn't put any name, you just to change every "her" in "him" in your head.

Now, enjoy this short story !!

Long time no see, right ??"

On the top of the hill, this crowded, yet lonely place, the man was facing someone.

 Finally, he found her.

"You know, I've been searching for you for 3 years now. Your parents told me you were waiting for a sign from me. Is it true ??"

Silence. The man sighed, looking at the ground.

Sadness could be read in his eyes."I... I know you won't answer. But, at least, listen to me. I swear you won't see me anymore afterwards."

Like he thought, the girl didn't say anything. He raised his eyes, a little, just enough to see hers.

"Purple", he whispered. "Your purple eyes are the first that I-well, that everybody notice when they look at you the first time. But it helped us, right ??"

He forced a smile to appear.

"Your eyes made us meet, 12 years ago. Times flies, don't you think ??"

Even if he didn't want to take his eyes off her face, he forced himself to look at the horizon, where the sunset was dying in an orange shade.

"Do you remember ?? Your were in a corner of the school's building. You had... A little cut on your arm and a bruise on your bottom lip, if I remember well. You were bullied because of your eyes, right ??" he asked sighing. "People thought you were a monster, that monsters should die. But I found you this day."

The young man looked at the girl again, raised his hand to touch her, but stopped a few inches short before. It was too late, he knew it.

He sighed again.

"This day, I became your only friend. And as chance would have it, we discovered we had the same passion. Music. And when we started to show our creations to the other students, they started to like us. To like you. You became really popular at this moment" He said with a giggle, thinking about how the most introvert person on earth get to talk to everybody in a few weeks.

"But creating music for them wasn't enough for us. We wanted to become famous. We wanted everybody to know our little world. So we auditioned for records labels."

The man looked at his old friend. Her face didn't move at all at the mention of this memory, even if it destroyed her. He knew that.

"They accepted me. But you've been rejected. I tried to negotiate, but they didn't change their minds."

One more time, he sighed, heavily this time.

"You didn't have any future in music."

The man started to tear up but succeeded in holding them back. He had to be strong.

"You told me it was okay. Even when they said I had to move to LA, even when I told you that I wouldn't be able to see you for a while, you were smiling, saying that you were glad for me. That my happiness was the only thing that mattered for you."

A shiver traveled his body as a cold wind passed. He had to finish quickly or he'll catch a cold.

"But... What I forgot is that people only liked you for your songs. You sure had an amazing voice, but you didn't know how to compose. Without me writing songs, you weren't anything anymore. So people started to bully you again."

His throat was hurting. Not because of the cold, but because he was still trying to hold back his tears. He tried to ignore the pain. He knew he wasn't the one who suffered the most.

"Your parents told me that one day, you came back with a twisted ankle, a bloody nose and a shaved cranium. Theses bastards took your dignity away..." He said, clenching his fist so hard that his nails were almost penetrating his skin.

He gulped, feeling guilty for not having done anything. If only he knew, if only she had told him...

"At this moment, you and your family moved away, and you changed your phone number. That's why I stopped talking to you. I probably thought you were a stalker among many others when you started to text me with a new number..."

He stayed silent for a moment, lost in thought."You... You know, I read your letter. The one you gave to your parents. In it, you said that I had abandoned you. I guess you're kind of right..."

He looked away, thinking about what her parents had told him.

"I've heard that you fell into depression a few months after I left. You stopped going out, you didn't want to eat anything. You started to take a lot of... Stuff, your parents didn't precise. Would you've done this if I'd been there, with you ??"

Silence could be heard again. Anyway, he didn't need her to answer, he already knew the truth. If he'd been with her in the last years, he would have be able to hear her voice now.

But he wasn't there at that time. And now she's mute.

He started to cry."You've waited for 5 years... Why didn't you wait for one more month ?? One fu**ing month !! I would've be there for you, I would've take you away, with me, Why didn't you wait !?"

The man knelt, throwing the flowers that he was holding, and touched the stone, in which a picture of his old friend was engraved.

"Just... One more month", he whispered.

The man stayed in this position. Not daring to move, to open his eyes. He wanted to believe that if he waited, she would finally speak. He was waiting for her arms to wrap his back, telling him everything was okay, that she was there, with him.

But it was to late for that.

The man stood up, took the flowers he threw before and placed them under her name. It was time for him to go.

"Farewell, Y/N" he said, leaving her in the peace she was looking for by going here.
