It was almost 7:00 when Mum finally arrived home. She came in without acknowledging me and went straight to her room. I frowned inquisitively and made my way across the landing knocking on her door lightly.

"Er Mum are you alright?" I asked puzzled to her sudden reclusiveness. I heard a muffle behind the door and then she spoke

"I'm fine thanks Gemma, just fix yourself something for dinner. I've had a long day, just want to go to bed" she spoke through the door

"Oh okay sure, night" I walked away from the door completely lost as to what had just happened. It's not like her at all, usually she'll have a shower and then come downstairs and make dinner. I was curious that there was more to it then just being tired but I dismissed the thought. It was nearing 7:30 now and I had been so busy at the record store and sleeping that I had forgotten to make myself lunch so I was starving. I made my way into the kitchen and started opening cupboards in search of something to eat. I didn't fancy cereal or teabags so I moved onto the fridge. Cheese, milk, chocolate,-what even is that? I thought picking up a suspicious looking container. I put it back and carried on searching. I eventually found some pasta left over from the other night, I took it out and put it in the microwave for a couple minutes. It's not that I was a bad cook, I made a mean omelette but I just wasn't in the mood for cooking and this seemed good enough. The microwave made a loud beep, I removed the pasta and gave it a stir. I couldn't remember exactly whether I had liked the meal or not but I had nothing else so began shovelling spoonfuls of it into my mouth. Once I had finished I put my bowl in the sink and made my way back upstairs. I paused on the landing taking a few seconds to cup my ear to Mum's door but I couldn't hear anything so I gave up and went back to my room
