Charlotte's POVMy name is Charlotte Monroe. I'm a 22 year old college student. My mother and sister passed about 4 years ago in a car accident. I was lucky enough be the only survivor. My father drank heavily to cope with the loss of his family. He was so consumed in sorrow, he nearly forgot he had another daughter to raise. He was unable to work, think, or eat with his depression. After years went by his sadness turned into anger. He became abusive. Mentally and physically. But, I loved my father. He wasn't always such a bad man, and I know there's still good inside of him somewhere. Once he stopped working, I had to stop going to my dream school to pay the bills. I took night classes online and worked all day to survive. My father just lounged at home, drinking, watching television...
One day, I came home from work and noticed my dad was laying a bit awkwardly in the couch.
"Dad.. I'm home." I said in order for him to communicate to me. Normally he'd spit some cold words at me but, nothing. I got closer to him and slowly touched his arm from around the couch. It was cold.. I ran in front of him and a lone tear ran down my face. As of October 8th, he was gone too. Drinking is a bitch.
Once he passed, he had a small amount of savings that was passed down to me along with my mother's. It wasn't much but it was enough that I could get away. I moved to a small wooded area. The mortgage was extremely low and I noticed no one really came down this road. I didn't mind. I liked to be by myself anyways.
I managed to settle in with in a few days and enrolled at a community college that was walking distance. It was pretty nice to be able to go to school again. I wanted to become a nurse. My mother told me that she wanted to be a nurse but she had to raise two beautiful children first. I wanted to not only do it for me, but do it for her.
I heard a scratched on my door followed by some slight meows. I walked out and noticed a stray cat. I couldn't afford to keep him but I fed him what I had and he came back for the next few days. As I was feeding him, I noticed there was a shadow like figure in the window of the house across the street. "Hmm.. I didn't think anyone lived there."
I never saw the lights on, never saw movement, but I guess I was wrong. I didn't pay much attention to it after that.
At school, It was tougher than I thought. I met a few people that I wouldn't really consider friends. More so... acquaintances.
Michael's POV
As I watched the pesky cat that's been crapping on my yard, I noticed there's a car in the driveway across the street. Must be a new neighbor. I don't understand why these people still choose to move beside me. I watched her diligently. She had flawless brown skin, with brown eyes, and long black curly hair. She wore a yellow backpack and walked up the street every day this week at 7:45 AM. She came home at 2:56 PM. I liked watching her. It was like watching a bird eat. I'll catch it while it's not paying attention.
One day as I was watching her, I saw her feed that damn cat. Now he'll never leave. I normally don't harm animals but something had to be done.
I decided I was going to follow her. I haven't killed anyone for awhile now. I felt like I was having withdrawls. I thought, "I better saver her from her death later and kill her now." I walked out my home at 7:48 AM. I had my knife steady in my hand and a blood lust that was higher than ever. I followed her to school.
Charlotte's POV
I met two girls named Brenda and Keesha. They invited me to a get together tonight. It was October 20th. I had nothing better to do, so why not? I knew I had to keep my guard up around these girls. They were cancerous. I was lonely and was in no position to pass up people who would distract me from the hardship I go through on a daily basis. They told me to wear something that wouldn't make me look like a dick repellent like I normally do. Brenda whispered into some guys ear and he winked at me. I was confused but I politely smiled and waved back before getting up to go home. They told me to meet them at The Pueb at 10 PM. I got home, threw on some nicer looking clothes and lounged around till it was time to go.
Michael's POV
I decided not to kill her so soon. When she walked, she looked happy to be alive. When I saw her face, she looked like she was caving in inside.I was confused, pondering on what the hell is up with her. Her contradicting persona made me get a headache.
From what I could tell she wanted to do something in the medical field. "Pft." I don't know why, but I felt offended. Like she was preparing to save herself.. From me? I shook my head and cleared my thoughts.
Later that day I saw her socializing with the same people who egged my home. They're only alive till this day because I have a special treat for those I kill on Halloween. They were talking about a get together..? At The Pueb. Of all places. A wooded area with a fireplace that all the little junkies like to hang out at. I know I've only watched her for a few days but, she didn't seem like the type. Several moments later I watched her get up go home.
She came out a few hours later in a yellow dress and some white sneakers. "Hmm.. She must like yellow." She looked quite pretty actually. Normally she looks nice but yellow really complimented her. "What are you even saying Myers, get yourself together." I said while collecting my weapon. I watched her run off towards where the meeting was planned. Of course, I had to follow her. Plus, it's my favorite place to catch prey. Red would compliment her yellow so nicely.
