The Man Who Would Be King
There once was an angel
He had been on Earth for a long time
He had witnessed the birth of civilizations
Had seen Cain, Abel and the tower of Babel
He carried the weight of the world
On his back and strained shoulders
He had felt pain, sadness and anger
But he kept holding on, believing it made him stronger
He had survived the most dangerous battles
Between Heaven and Hell, demons and angels
But in the end, for his life
He had paid the heaviest of prices
For now all he felt was loneliness
All of his friends were long gone
He had trouble filling in the emptiness
And only wished his heart would turn to stone
He could now see all the ugly
The war, the crime, the hate
He so desperately wanted to fix it
But he had lost all his faith
Still, he had tried
Made his choices
Picked a side
He had thought they needed a leader
In the end, he acted as their Grim Reaper
His actions causing death and harm to others
Now the world was broken
And he had tried to do the right thing
The angel had fallen
He had only been the man who would be king
