Humanity's "What If?"

The Idea

It was Monday, last period, and hour and twenty minutes away from three o'clock. We where in introduction to research class, we had to make a scientific investigation on a subject we selected. I was indecisive on what subject to choose. I thought of engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, astronomy even. But in the year 3018 I though this was to elementary, basic, lame even.

Three o'clock hit and the bell rang, I went to my locker and left my books. Afterwards I made the line for the teleportation tube, still thinking about what subject to research for my project. It was my turn, I entered the coordinates and my password, not a second passed and I was in my house's living room.

"Honey is that you?" Mom called from her room

"Yeah" I responded

I went towards my room, the automatic door slid opened, I entered, and it closed. I sat in my big, comfortable, and cushioned chair. I sat and thought, for some reason I just could not get my head around a good subject for my project. I decided to think about it later since I couldn't think of anything. I touched the control pad in my chair and pressed the VideoTube icon, a holo-screen appeared. I scrolled down and scrolled down nothing seemed interesting.

All of a sudden I see a video titled: "What if humans didn't kill themselves?". I was intrigued so I clicked on the video. The video explained how the human race could have progressed if we didn't fight amongst ourselves. I was blown away and I sat in my chair for about five minutes after the video ended. I thought of how humanity really could have been if we helped, respected, and loved ourselves.

I got it! I would do a social science project. I got a tremendous idea, I will do a program simulating the history of the human race on earth, but with a twist. The humans in this program will love, respect, and cooperate with everyone they meet. I thought long and hard on how to get a good program done. I thought of asking Juan, my programming teacher to help me create the program. So all I had to do was observe, and take notes.

By the time I had the full plan already set up in my head it has 6:30 pm. I started to do my Calculus 7 homework, and went to eat right after I finished. I was so happy I got the idea for my project, I almost forgot I was supposed to eat. After I ate I went to bed, I thought on when to ask Juan to help with the project, I couldn't decide so I just left it for another time, and went to sleep.
