The Riverfront

On a divine riverfront we met.

But on that fairway, I was beset.

Those riverways became a mess.

I did not know whether to turn right or left.

I became flooded by your love,

capsized by my emotions.

I was drowning in the passion,

for it felt greater than the ocean.

I was enveloped by the waves,

breathing in the waters.

For a second I forgot how to swim,

but like a fish, my lungs were opened.

Now I'm dependent on your love,

like a mermaid is of the ocean.

I never wish to leave it,

for I know, I'll come out broken.

Let me swim in you forever,

exploring all your depths.

I have no need to feel the sunshine,

for you are my very breath.

I don't know I how I made it through life

before the day we met.

But I thank God for that riverfront,

and I shall never forget.
