*Levi's P.O.V.*

I look over at my alarm clock. 5:57 a.m. Awake before my alarm...again... I shut my alarm off and jump out of bed. I walk over to my closet and pick out my red and black flannel with my black skinny jeans. Now the question is... do I wear my red converse or my black ones? I pick up the red ones and slip them on. I walk down the hall to smell breakfast cooking. I enter the kitchen and greet mom while grabbing a glass of orange juice.

"So Levi. I won't be back until in the morning... tomorrow. If you want to, you can invite a friend over to keep you company. I know how lonely you must get with me being gone most of the time because of my job having crazy hours," mother started walking over to me as she spoke. She wrapped me in a hug. After a second passed by, I gently wiggled out of her arms.

"It's okay mom. I understand. I'll ask around. You just focus on you. By the way, I think the eggs are done." I try to assure her.

"SHIT!" She rushes over to turn the stove off and quickly stirs the eggs. She divides out the eggs and bacon onto two plates and brings them over to the kitchen island where we always eat. I use my arms to help my short legs in their struggle to boost me onto the tall bar stool. My mother sits beside me as we eat in silence. We finish our plates at the same time so I carry our plates to the sink to wash them. Once the dishes are washed, I turn around to find my mother sleeping. She really shouldn't be working herself like this. I pick her up bridal style and lay her on the couch. I place a blanket over her and kiss her forehead. After brushing my teeth, I grab my backpack and walk out the door. The journey from my house to the school is short. It's only five minutes. I grab my phone and begin to text Eren.

Levi: Hey brat. Are we still meeting at the usual spot?

Brat ❤: As always 😉

I smile and put my phone away. I can see the school in the distance. Ugh! School... The place where I have to pretend that Eren is just my best friend. This really does suck but I know if people know... well let's just say it won't be pretty. I weave myself through the small groups of people. Eventually, I find a tree that is nearly off campus with Eren sitting underneath it. He seems to be reading something but I'm not sure from this distance. As I draw closer, I notice that he isn't reading but drawing in his sketch book. He is so focused on his drawing that he doesn't even notice that I am there. I bend over and put my head close to his to observe his masterpiece. I notice that it is a bird building a nest on a tree branch. I turn my head and bring my lips close to his ear.

"What a lovely drawing," I say but before I can finish, pencils go flying and his sketch book is no longer in his lap. He leans away from me and scowls at me, at first. I tilt my head to the side and, eventually, he smiles and scoots over to allow me room to sit. I take a seat next to him and slowly relax against the tree.

"Leeevviii... Why did you have to go and scare me like that. Now there is a line all over my drawing," his voice trails off. He sounds upset but his eyes tell me he is glad to see me.

"I'm sorry. I didn't actually mean to. You were so absorbed into your drawing, that you didn't even know I had walked up. I'll try to be a little louder next time."

"No, it's fine. I'm sorry I get so wrapped up in my drawings. I don't mean to. Anyway, how are you this morning?"

"Tired. Oh, by the way, mom said I could have someone over tonight. Do you wanna stay over at my place tonight? I mean... only if you want to! You don't have to... Um... yeah." Why are you getting embarrassed, Levi? Come on! Man up! Get your shit together!

"S-sure. I would love to Levi. I'll tell my dad I have a group project due."

"Great! Um... I still have that emergency bag you insisted I have at my house so don't worry about clothes and a toothbrush."

"I told you it would come in handy one day! It saves me a trip to my house."

BRRRIIINNNGGGG!!!!!

Eren grabs his bag and starts walking. We have all our classes together which is a plus but this just makes people even more suspicious. We are dating but we want to keep it secret. We claim we are just best friends. We begin to walk to our first period. History. Who in their right damn mind would have History at 8 o'clock in the damn morning! Eren and I sigh in unison as we walk through the door and head to our seats. This is gonna be reeeeaalll boring. History goes by and was, in fact, boring. Eren and I walk to Art next. It's less boring than History. Finally, it's lunch. Eren leads the way to the perfect shade tree and sinks to the ground. I follow his movement and pull out my lunch from my backpack. We silently enjoy our lunch as it passes by all too quickyly. Unlike lunch, the rest of the day passes by way too slow. Fourth period is study hall. We are sitting there whispering amongst ourselves when the bell finally rings. Eren and I quickly grab our stuff and leave the school behind us...
High school is a pain...
