We

Are a Broken

Generation…

You see it in our eyes,

Hear it on our lips,

Feel it in our touch…

You’re a FOOL if you don’t notice it…

Those terrified screams in the dark,

Crying for help,

That reach your ears as mere whispers

The pain we so desperately want you to see in our eyes,

Only for it to be drowned out by forced laughter

Those signs we NEED you to see…

But you turn a blind eye…

Oblivious…

So what else can we do?

We’ve screamed!

We’ve pleaded!

And now there’s nowhere to turn…

Except…

Maybe…

Within ourselves.

We retreat further within ourselves

Further into the darkness of confusion

And once we get so far,

We are past help…

That’s when you see the scars,

That’s when you hear the cries for help

Echoing off the walls of your memory

That’s when you see

That maybe

Just maybe

We have problems too.

We see things you never notice

We read between the lies

Of everything you say.

And that eats away at us.

Slowly making us invisible

Except for the scars.

That’s all you can see anymore.

The scars...

But it’s too late.
