Crying is how I entered in this story - re-entered actually.
And not his crying - his mother's.
It had been years since I had last heard her, "Eric." she sobbed out my name and the pain in her voice left me wide awake despite the early hours of the day.
"T-Tom needs you." she forced out with difficulty.
It had been a year since I had last talked to him - and that too on the phone - knowing his mother well, I knew this was the most I would get from her over the phone so I said my goodbye and started preparing to leave.
I was going to take the first flight there was to New York city.
Tom needed me.
