walking in the front doors of the school, we all headed towards the art room. that's where the art club intramural would be, and we hoped that's where joe would reside. i opened the door and bradley and i walked into a room which held about twenty ish kids and joe, leaning over some ninth grade girl.

"joeyyyyyy, my mans," bradley called, pointing his hands at the poor guy. "could we talk to you outside for a quick second?"

the guy looked at us weirdly but ended up smirking. "uh- yeah, just a sec." he looked back, said something to the girl, and stood up to walk over to us. "what's up?"

we both turned around and stepped out into the hallway. the rest of our group had pleading eyes pointed at joe.

the truth is, we hadn't even come up with a plan. we were just going to ask and hope he didn't snitch.

marley walked up close to him and sighed. "can we get into the supply closet?"

"for what?"

"poster paper." thankfully, he seemed to believe it, so he nodded and tossed brad the keys.

"thanks joey." she said, punching him lightly in the shoulder. he nodded, blushing wildly, then proceeded to walk back into the room, and we followed him inside.

our group walked across the front of the class, earning stares from the lower classmen.

i forgot to mention, the six of us create different murals in different places around the school. some of the most popular are pop/ comical art and illusions in the commons.

anyways, we headed across the room to the closet and stepped in. isaac spotted the paints instantly. i looked outside and found joe helping another kid with a portrait of coretta scott king.

it wasn't bad.

the boy who drew mrs king turned around and looked at me. he smiled and i realized who i was staring at. sam hernz. the most popular guy at school. i raised my eyebrows and smirked, amused. and he turned back to his project.

"like what you see?" i heard him say.

i walked forward next to his table. "definitely, mrs king looks good in this." i told him, tracing my finger over the chin.

he looked up at me and closed his eyes and smiled at the same time. "that was s huge blow to my ego." he opened his eyes back up and i noticed how pretty his green eyes were. i sent a close lipped smile.

"didn't you do that tupac portrait in the lunchroom?" i did; bradley and i made the 8 by 10 side profile of the rapper. it was full of color and one of the most well known and liked around here.

"yeah, me and bradley did that." i told him rubbing my eyes.

"who's bradley?"

then brad's voice rang out across the room, and sam and i turned to see his head poked out of the door, his face faltered. "cam! come here!"

"that's brad." i said, looking back to sam. he nodded, looking away. "uh, i gotta get back there."

"yeah," he said smiling. "maybe i'll see you around." sam looked back at me, still smiling. i nodded, me smiling as well.

"you should add more tints under her eyes and on the sides of her nose."

he was quiet, then nodded. "guess i should take it from the expert. thanks cam."

after an mhmm i walked into the closet to see josh and marley standing with two pieces of large white poster paper, bradley in the middle, waving me towards him. he was holding two medium sized green paint cans. they were blue and yellow.

when i got there, he asked me to grab the purple and red cans, which i did.

"okay so, we'll be in the middle of the papers so they can't see us taking them. and sadie and isaac will be in front and behind us, yeah?" i nodded, standing next to him.

we walked out again, still getting glances. "THANKS JOE!" josh yelled when we were halfway out the door, and that earned us a no problem! we continued walking out this way until we got into the parking lot and to isaac's car.

he pulled out the duffel and we discarded the four paint cans into it. we then stuffed the paper into his jeep. while they did this, bradley pulled me aside rather harshly.

"what were you doing talking to sam hernz?" he asked. he was looking over me.

"i don't know, what's your problem?"

"i don't have a problem." i didn't believe him.

"okay bradley." i said sarcastically and brushed past him, getting in the car next to marley.

brad followed, sitting in the front seat.
