Winter's Child

Welcome home!

The woods pass by the window of Charlie's cruiser. AC/DC was softly playing through the radio as Rhea leaned her head on the window.

Charlie looked over at the white haired girl, Rhea could see his face morphing into concern through the window.

He looked to be debating saying something.
"Are you okay sweetie?" Charlie finally asked.

"Mhmm?" She lift her head and turn to look at him ignoring the frost now covering the place where her head resided. "Yea Uncle C, I'm fine. Just...." Rheas voice paused "I just haven't been outside of the hospital in a while is all" And she hasn't, she had had an accident last time she was out, she had frozen half the courtyard. She's been kept inside for the last two weeks to run test and to control her powers better.

"Well, schools starting again soon. At least you'll be able to get out then" Charlie attempted to cheer up his goddaughter, smiling tightly. He hated the fact that Rhea, who's practically his little girl, is treated like a freak. Like just an experiment.

He wanted to help her, but he doesn't know how.
He was helpless when it came to her powers and he knew it. Rhea has been the only thing that kept him together after Renee left him and took his baby girl Bella from him. For all he knew, he was also the only thing Rhea had in this world.

When Rhea had gotten her powers, she was only 9 years old. Her parents didn't know what to do, they didn't know how to take care of a mutant child. They were so against against mutants that they mistreated their youngest child in hope of fixing her, when that didn't work they stuck her at the hospital two months after she turned 12 and left. When Charlie caught wind of what the Cade family had done to his goddaughter, a whole week had passed, and to say he was furious was an understatement.

He couldn't believe what Rhea's mom and dad had done. He went to track down Rhea's parents to demand an explanation to just what the hell they were thinking, but they had already packed up and left the state by the time he had reached the house.

"Well then, in that case. We should make the most of it then" Charlie smirked cheerfully

Rhea raised an eyebrow in question. Charlie laughed and put in a CD and pressed play.

Rhea head whipped to face Charlie with wide eyes.

"You did NOT just put in Mulan! How and why do you even have a CD!" Rhea laughed, questioning her godfather. Charlie just smirked and shrugged before opening his mouth and belting out "I'll make a man out of you'

*Time Skip-Forks Airport*

"Do you see her?! Do you see her?!" Rhea excitedly asked Charlie while jumping up to get a better view over the sea of heads and bodies blocking her way. Charlie laughed at Rhea, she looked like a little elf, her white hair bouncing all over the place.

"Calm down Rhea, I'm sure she'll be here soon."

Rhea scowled and stopped jumping "Dont tell me to calm down old man, I'm seeing my bestfriend for the first time since I was a fetus-"

"Technically-"

"Shut up"

A snort rose from behind them, and the thunk of a suitcase followed.

"I hope I'm not interrupting something" a voice laughed behind the pseudo daughter-father duo.

Both Charlie and Rhea turned to face the person who the voice belonged to.

"BALONEY!" Rhea yelled throwing herself into the older girls arms. Bella laughed and caught her best friend

"RELISH!" Bella yelled equally loud her voice cracking when Rheas body finally fully collided with hers.
